This poem follows my other one Soldier. Again this is dedicated to all my friends who want to be in the military.
To the Soldier Oversees:
We don't know your name
Or where you came from
Or even why you're there.
All we know
Is what the media will tell us
And that isn't much.
We hear of the hundreds who die every day.
While Congress
Does nothing but argue and wait
For this war to turn around
While the rest of us doubt.
Even when one walks down the streets
One can feel the resent
And the hate
Of a nation divided.
So,
To the soldier oversees,
Don't wait for us
End this war,
America needs you to be here,
Not over there.
