The next day was eventful, to say the least. I was trying to hold in a secret that I had no business knowing, while trying to avoid the people that are involved in said secret. But, this day, I got caught. I was in the bathroom, washing my hands, and when I turned around, Becca and her friend, Tracey right behind me. It took a lot not to scream right then and there. Their stares pierced right into me.

"Like what you see?" I said. They looked at each other and in a flash; I was pressed up against a stall door by Tracey. No wonder she was a fighter. She was as strong as a man. And she looked like one to. Becca walked towards me and soon her face was close to mine. So close, that I could smell watermelon and toothpaste.

"Well, what do we have here?" she said. I was getting anger being pinned up like this.

"What the fuck, bitch! I didn't do anything. Why am I pinned up by a she male?" I yelled. I heard Tracey growl at me.

"I just want to tell you up close, that I want you away from Alex. Stay away or else…. "She trailed off. My left eye started twitching.

"Why in the hell would I do that, let alone listen to your bitch ass. I don't have to do a god damn thing" I yelled. The she male covered my mouth, and I had the urge to bite it, but I didn't know where the hell that thing has been.

"Oh, I think you should listen because I know a lot about you, your family, and the abuse" she paused. "I would hate for it to get bad after it just stopped, too. You wouldn't want a black eye right before the dance" she smiled evilly as she finished. I froze. Literally, like I couldn't breathe. Then suddenly Tracey dropped me and I flopped on the floor. I took deep breaths and spoke again.

"You don't deserve him. You're a filthy two timing whore. I know what you're planning on doing to him at the dance, but I still can't believe it" I said looking up at the two. All Becca did was smile and flip her golden hair.

"I'm clean, and who said I was faithful" she said, before leaning into my face again. "Like I said, stay away" then like that, they walked away like nothing happened. When the door closed, I just stared at it. Then I put my head in my hands, shaking in shock.

What does she mean by that? Is she really going to start my abuse again? Why didn't she seem surprised when I told her I knew?

My head was spinning with questions that had no answers to them.

The whole day was spent in massive thought. I did absolutely nothing in all my classes, at lunch I didn't eat and by the end I was ignoring everybody, even Ashley. When I got home, I took an apple and went upstairs.

The next day, the dance committee started putting the decorations up outside in the back of school, where we had a huge yard. We had a football yard. This year's theme is 'beautiful moonlight'. I can't believe I have to be the one to sing in front of the whole school tomorrow night. I hope Alex Is going to be there. I don't think I could do it without him

Alex is the only one, outside Ashley, who has heard me sing. Ever. So, I'm really nervous.

At lunch, Ashley was waiting for me, but stopped me when I tried to sit.

"No, May. We are not eating lunch today. We are going dress shopping" she said. I gave her a look.

"How? We have no money and no way to get anywhere" I said. Ashley smiled.

"I have tons of money and we could ask your future boyfriend for a lift" she said. My eyes went wide.

"Nononononono" I shook my head fast. But it did little as I got dragged to the hall where said boy was.

"Hey, cutie" she yelled. I shook my head again. Alex turned and smiled at me.

"Hey May, who's your friend?" he asked.

"This is Ashley. Ashley, Alex" I said, with my head down.

"Well, enough with the meet and greet, we need to ask you if you could give us a lift, in your car" she asked. I kept my head down.

"Where to?"

"The mall" she yelled with glee.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because she needs a dress for the dance. We need something simple, but enough to catch the eyes of a certain boy, am I right?" she looked at me. I didn't speak.

It took a moment for him to answer.

"Sure" he said.

I looked up at him, in surprise.

"Really, you would?" I asked. He nodded.

"I want to get to know Ashley and to find out who this boy is" he smiled. Me and Ashley looked at each other and she laughed out loud.

Soon, all three of us were in the car, going to the mall. I knew that this was a bad idea, but tried so little to stop it. We arrived at the mall and went into the nearest dress shop. I was trying to find a dress that didn't make me feel like a slut and that was fewer than 200 dollars. That was a tad bit hard. About half an hour later, I stopped trying.

"Here, try this on" said Ashley. She pushed me into the dressing room, while she was talking to Alex. In the room, I looked at the dress and slipped it on. I liked it automatically. It was real simple. It was all black, which is a plus, with a leather waistband. It stopped above the knee.

"Hey, let's see how you look" she yelled from the other side. I opened the door and slowly walked out.

The look on their faces was all I needed to know that this was the right one.
