The Unsung Requiem
Author:
Farewell-My-Shadow PM
I woke up at 2:00 in the morning with this idea. I quickly typed it out on my phone's notepad...at 2:00 in the morning. I may have been slightly delirious.

The Unsung Requiem

Imprisoned in a cage of Ignorance,

Held hostage by Innocence,

Swinging over a sea of Evil.

Daring once and for all

To break free,

I kicked down the door of my cell

And dove

Toward the sea.

But I landed on a cloud

And was stranded

Once again.

An angel visited me,

Her wing tips singed black.

She had swum in the sea of Evil

But still her heart

Was pure.

Every day she would visit me

And talk with me,

But she could never stay for very long.

Oh, how I longed to be with her,

To grow wings of my own

And leave my floating island of despair.

How I wished I could fly by her side

Forever

And go where the wind

Might take us.

But it was not meant to be.

Innocence still held it's sway over me.

As long as I knew not the waters

Of Evil below, that fair angel could

Never be mine.

She would not let me taint myself

For her,

Even though I would give

My soul for her.

And so we are bound.
