TO SLEEP, PERCHANCE TO DREAM—AY, THERE'S THE RUB
We were sitting on the couch in my basement, our laptops temporarily abandoned on the floor. Suddenly, she slid over next to me and pointed at the project packet I held in my hands. I could feel the heat from her body, warming my skin without physically touching me. I knew she was talking, but I couldn't hear what she was saying. I was too busy watching her lips move. When she looked up at me—she was so close!—I couldn't take it any longer.
I dropped the packet to the ground and reached up. I brushed her hair out of the way; she was clearly surprised, but didn't back away. I caressed her cheek and jaw, moving my fingers slowly across her skin. A rosiness spread across her face even as I felt a blush upon my own. She closed her eyes and shivered. I leaned in, hesitating at the last possible moment, our lips just brushing.
Those final, intense seconds of savory anticipation…
She moved forward eagerly and I leaned back in kind, teasing her. Her eyes flew open and locked with mine; I could see something there—hungry, pleading. Our noses touched as I placed my forehead gently against hers. I brushed those soft lips with my thumb; her eyes half closed and she bucked forward once again. I kept my thumb between our lips, thwarting her advances. She bit her bottom lip as fiery lust exploded behind those brown eyes. Hot breath spewed out as she opened her mouth; her tongue shot out, licking around my thumb, and flicking across my lips. Now she was teasing me. I sucked in a breath. She was driving me crazy!
I placed my free hand on her side, just above the hip. Our eyes remained locked as I began to trace circles on the small of her back. One of the circles went too wide and my fingers found the hem of her shirt. My loins twitched lustfully as I slipped my hand underneath the fabric, enjoying the sensation of skin-on-skin. She closed her eyes and shivered again, but her tongue never stopped.
I pulled away quickly and stood up, leaving her looking foolish, her eyes closed and tongue out. Her eyes flew open and the passionate expression turned to one of confusion. I didn't move for a moment—I was watching her, loving the way she looked: hurt and betrayed. I wasn't a sadistic person by any means. But it was for the same reason why I moved away that I paused when she made that face. I shivered…and lunged.
She was beneath me on the couch. It happened so fast that I'm not even sure how I did it. I still had one foot planted on the floor, but my other knee was on the couch, between her thighs. My left forearm was sunk into the cushion near her head, supporting my weight so I wouldn't crush her. Her face lit up with excitement; she slipped her arms around my neck and tried to pull us together again. I swiftly placed my right hand around and over her mouth, covering it completely. She glared at me. I murmured to her, asking for her to wait a few seconds longer. Her eyes gentled. She licked my palm once in response.
I slid my hand down to her chin, exposing her mouth. I rested my chin on the back of my hand and paused. She had that look in her eyes again, yearning. I couldn't deny myself much longer, either. I brushed my tongue against her lips playfully, as if to say, 'I got you back.'
Her arms pulled me closer and I finally surrendered, pressing my lips to hers. She kissed back roughly, pushing her tongue into my mouth. And the world just seemed to melt away.
Literally melt. The walls began to drip and ooze away; entire chunks of the ceiling dropped to the floor; fire exploded from the stairway, setting the couch ablaze.
I recoiled and opened my eyes, panting. I spent a few seconds trying to disentangle myself from the twisted sheets before I was able to sit on the edge of the bed. I was hard; after a dream like that, I would be concerned if I wasn't. I sighed and looked at the clock. 4:22. I didn't have to be up for school for several hours, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep. Not after that.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, despite its short length! I want to keep the chapters coming, but the semester starts tomorrow, so I will likely be updating less often from now on. Beta-reading two FanFiction stories (not to mention continuing working on my own FF story) is also going slow the process down a little. So please bear with me.
I'm reminded of what someone told me when I started attending college: "Sleep, leisure, and studying. You can only pick two." [insert sigh here] Sleep is overrated, anyway. Caffeine is my friend.
In recognition for their acts of great motivation, would the following people please stand up and take a bow:
gwenbell0010 — Hello again! Thank you for the review. Yep, Adela's coming back. I wonder how that's going to go for Christopher. Honestly, I have only a vague idea of what the next couple chapters will hold. Oddly enough, chapters nine and ten are already finished. Now to just write the middle part…
NekoBeliever — A newcomer? All right! Welcome to the party, stranger! Thanks for adding this to not only your Story Alerts, but also your Favorites List! I appreciate the review…more than you might ever know. I hope I am able to continue to impress in the following chapters. Come back soon, ok?
