Chapter 10
He bent down to my stomach. "Can you walk?" His voice sounded compleatly normal. Was I halusinating from blood loss?
He wraped one of his arms under my legs and the other under my back.
Next thing I knew he was carring me to the back of all the houses near a sewer.
I could feel the blood leaking from my womb... and possibly my baby's blood too. I could also feel my senses fading. "Finn?" I whispered. He stopped to look at me. "You'll be okay." He promised. Now I could her something in his voice. I could now hear and slightly feel his bones shaking and changing with his voice. My vision started blurring. "Air? I'll lay you down, when you feel me, grab onto me." He directed.
His voice wasn't his anymore. I closed my eyes and felt a cold wet ground beneath me.
And then I herd ripping and terring sounds sounds of knuckles breaking and forming something else. Afraid of knowing what was happening I stopped my sight all together by closing my eyes.
I herd a soft gurgle of a beast and put my hands out infront of my now knowing it was only Finn.
My arms held me as close as I could to his furry back as he carried me through the darkness
Every step he took it got harder and harder for me to hold on. Finally he stopped and gently dropped me onto something soft.
I woke up to beautiful sound. A tiny waterfall. Finn was leaning over my stomach trying to think.
Then he saw me wake up and layed a cold cloth on my head. "You okay?" He asked quietly. "Where are we?" I asked. "We're in the tunnels." He answered. My heart raced. "So all the wolves are just peop-" "We're not the wolves that are hunting you all... The wolves that are hunting you are really just wolves. A nuclear war mutated and mutilated them untill they reproduced and their offsprings survived the gases... But when they bite us..." "You become one of them." I finished. "The turned ones don't have bloodlust but sometimes develop abilties." He explained. I stared at him. "What's yours?" I asked. He looked at me. "Regeneration." He answered. His eyes were staring down at my stomach.
"There was two." He mumbled. I looked at my stomach I had stiches where the knife was. "Is at least one of them alive?" I asked. "Both are." He said. I shot him a look. "I had to break the embryotic sac but... Our 'Terra' is alive." He smiled. "There both alive?!" I exclaimed realived. He nodded but there was something on his face telling me something might be wrong. "What is it?" I asked. He looked at the water. "I don't know how long she'll be in you... or if she'll even survive untill the birth." He uttered. "I'm sorry." He looked back at me. I stared at him and back to my stomach. "How do you know all of this?" I asked.
"We all learned major studies in human anatomy. We wanted to figure out what would be the best way to nurture ourselves as well... warewolves." He explained.
I stared at felt my stomach. I could feel a very slight line between two bumps. Terra and Derick. Twins. My twins.
"Hey Finn?" I herd a voice call. I looked to Finn. "It's just my brother." He promised. "Yeah Wes?" He called back.
He walked into the area. He looked alot like Finn. Same redish hair, same height and build, even a slightly similar face.
"I'm not walking in on something am I?" He asked. I think he was mostly asking me. I shook my head. "What's up?" Finn asked. "Um, Thalia is going into labour. We may need help." He replied.
Finn looked at me. "You might want to come." He said to me.
I could tell right off the bat that this wasn't going to be a normal childbirth. The way the guys looked at me said it all. "To prepare myself?" I asked.
They both nodded. "If you don't... It won't work out in your favor." Wes added. I wasn't sure what he was talking about.
"What do you mean?" I asked. Finn looked solmn. "If you don't know how to go through the labor and birth... the child may end up killing you." He explained.
We ventured down deeper into the tunnels. I had no idea where I was, I may have been this deep before but never for long enough to know them off by heart, and who has time like that when you could get eaten alive?
The whole time Finn told me to not be afraid to ask questions. Even if he had to help he promised he wouldn't get frutsrated or angry.
I was terrified of what to expect. I saw Thalia, the woman Wes was talking about.
She had a strp of clothes left on just to cover her chest and privates. She was holding her breath and the big baby bump in her stomack looked bruised.
I stoped dead, terrified of what was going to happen. Wes was at her side the second we saw her. "Remember to only take a deep breath when you can't hold any longer." He coached her.
"What happens if she does breath normally?" I asked. "We haven't figured out why but the baby fights through and tears the skin open." He said slowly. "We think it may be because it's trying to breathe." He tried to explain. I didn't quite understand but I just watched untill a new question would arise.
It was all so terrifying, but I knew I couldn't look away so I tried my best to stay focused on observing.
Then she started screaming. Her skin was moving. You could now see it stetching, I was surprised
blood wasn't coming out.
Wes put his hand over her mouth. "Shhh!" He tried harder to coach.
Finally she started to push it out. I couldn't watch when it came out, but what I saw before I
looked away made me want to run away and forget.
I herd another spine crunching scream and then A beautiful soft cry.
I had the bravery to look then. A gentle baby girl was being craddled in Wes's arms. Thalia simly layed there enjoying being able to breathe again. She looked so exhasted and still in pain.
I needed a second to take in what just happened... what's going to happen to me.
"You okay?" Fin asked me quietly.
I nodded. Thalia held out her arms wanting to hold her new baby.
I leaned into Fin as he wrapped his arms around me. My heart was still racing and I knew that this would most likely be the hardest thing I've done in my life. "Has any woman died giving birth?" I asked. He took a deep breath.
"What's the answer for your question if it was a human woman that you were talking about?" He asked.
My eyes drifted to my stomach. What if they turn into monsters instead of beautiful... And I died for it...
I needed to take a breath.
My legs shook as I walked away, back towards where we were before.
