More Than I Bargained For

Chapter 4

I was vaguely aware of something soft underneath my cheek, my good cheek. I felt something solid, like a hand on my arm. And then my eyes shot open and I quickly stood up. I glanced right at Blaze, who was grinning.

I narrowed my eyes. "What are you grinning for?"

"Did you get any sleep liebe?" he asks, still with that grin on his face.

I glared at him. "Don't call me 'dear'. And no, I didn't get any sleep."

Suddenly, the plane shuddered and I jumped. "What just happened?"

"The plane has landed. We are now in Germany." Blaze spoke and stood up, offering me his hand. I grumbled and slapped his hand away, groaning as I stood up myself.

"Gahhh….I think I slept on my back wrong….." I groaned, rubbing my sore back. "I need to find a massager….."

"Shhh." Blaze said, putting a finger to my lips. "We don't want to get caught." He grabbed my wrist and we walked to the cargo door, waiting for our chance to get out. "Okay, let's go." We rushed out of the plane and behind the back of the building.

"Now what?" I ask and he only grinned down at me. He knelt down and slung me over his shoulder yet again, running towards a field and keeping a good grip on my form. "Oh joy…..I get to be carried again." I muttered sarcastically.

About 20 minutes went by and we finally hit a town. "Where are we?" I ask.

"Berlin." Blaze replied and jumped onto a roof. He jumped across the roofs and then finally stopped on one, setting me down. "We can walk from here. It's not that far."

"Far from where?" I ask, holding my stomach. I think I'm gonna hurl….

"You'll see." He spoke and then jumped.

"Hey!" I looked over the edge to see that he had jumped into a pile of hay. "Idiot, I thought you committed suicide." I said as he jumped out of the hay and held out his arms.

"Jump, I'll catch you." He said in a somewhat flirtatious voice and grinned.

I glared at him. "No thanks." I grumbled and jumped into the pile of hay. "Ugh! It's in my cut!" I gently pulled a piece of hay out of my cut, making me cringe. "Gross….."

"You should've agreed to let me catch you." He spoke with a grin as I jumped out of the hay.

"Shut up." I punched his shoulder. "Let's just go, I'm dying for a shower."

About 10 minutes later, we finally arrived at a two-story house. Blaze didn't even bother to knock, he just opened the door and walked right in. "Chalice! I'm back!"

Who the hell is Chalice? Sounds like a girl. I thought, wincing as the pain in my cheek came again. Just then, we both heard footsteps and down came a man in his early 30's with short, light brown hair and eyes of the same color. "Ah! Blaze, es ist wunderbar, dich wiederzusehen!" He said and the two men shook hands.

His gaze went over to me. "Wer ist das?" he asks Blaze.

"A friend." Blaze replied. "I crashed through her roof a couple days ago."

The man sighed. "You were always the one for trouble Blaze." He smiled and looked at me. "My name is Chalice; it's a wonderful pleasure to meet you….."

"Crystal."

"It's a wonderful pleasure to meet you Crystal. Blaze, is she American?"

"Yes."

"You brought her here all the way from the United States?" Chalice said and smacked Blaze upside the head. "I told you not to bring strays home anymore!"

"She's not a stray! I got attacked, she healed me up and I saved her life because Grail almost killed her!"

Chalice sighed. "You always do bring trouble with you Blaze….." he grumbled and then his eyes landed on my cheek. "Oh liebe!" he exclaimed. "What happened to your cheek?"

"I got shot at with an arrow." I grumbled, wincing.

"Come with me! I'll take care of that right away!" Chalice said and guided me into a different room. But then he glared at Blaze. "You should know better Blaze."

About ten minutes later, Chalice finally finished tending with my cheek. "There we go! It should heal within a week, but there might be a scar."

I scratched my other cheek. "It's alright. Blaze is just one giant heap of trouble."

Chalice smiled. "Tell me about it. I've known Blaze for a long time and I'm still not used to his unexpected visits. But Blaze is a good guy. When he sets his mind on something, it doesn't leave him."

"Chalice, are you done?" Blaze asks, poking his hood-covered head into the room.

"Yes, I am. Now take Crystal back to the US."

Blaze winced. "But Grail might kill her...and I like her."

My face got red with anger. I grabbed a nearby mirror and threw it at him. He dodged and it crashed somewhere in the other room. "I am majorly pissed at you right now Blaze! It would be wise if you just stayed away from me!"

"Isn't she cute when she's mad?" Blaze asks his friend, who only sighed and slapped a hand onto his face. I clenched my fists and tackled him to the ground.

"This is your last warning Blaze de Vanche Clouden." I hissed, grabbing the front of his cloak and leaning down to his face. "Take me back to the US or I will kill you in your sleep."

"Can't do that, sorry."

I shrieked out in anger and wrapped my hands around his neck, strangling him while shaking him roughly. "Sorry? You're sorry? You're lucky I didn't just throw you outside and let you bleed to death!"

"I can't breathe..." he wheezed, his hands wrapped around my wrists.

"Liebe..." Chalice scolded and pulled me off Blaze, who coughed. "That's not very nice."

I huffed. "I don't give a rat's ass. It's his fault this happened in the first place."

"True, but you should be the least bit grateful for keeping you alive."

My eyes narrowed and I just pulled myself out of his hold. "Fine..." I mumbled as Blaze stood up.

"Tut mir wirklich leid Crystal." he said, frowning a little.

I sighed. "Whatever. As long as I don't get killed, I won't torture you."

Blaze smiled and then ran forwards, lifting me up in a tight hug. "Thank you Crystal!" he laughed, tightening his grip.

I swear he just cracked my back. "Blaze...can't breathe..." I wheezed.

"Oh!" he set me down and I coughed. "Sorry Crystal."

"Don't worry about it."
