Hey ya'll! So I am going to be terribly busy all saturday since I have to be devoted to an all day thing and then afterward I have to go out. Point is, I wont be able to post a chapter. But lucky you guys, I had a little bit of free time today, while my iPad was charging and decided to get another chapter up. I have been sick the past few days but I've been feeling better and so this is the result of such. Read on!
I watched the elevator close my eyes puffy from tears. Was there a such thing as crying too much? Could you run out of tears? I stumbled my way back into Maria's room and sat down in the chair next to the bed.
"God Maria, what has happened to my life?" I huffed. She looked at me raising her eyebrows. "Oh I'm so sorry. I don't mean to make my problems seem to be bigger than yours. You obviously have more to cry about than I do."
"Teresa just because I'm dying doesn't mean that I feel like the whole entire world is inferior to me. If you have problems then I want to hear them. I don't want you to feel like your problems are less important than mine. Now dish, what happened between you and Michael and what have you done to my brother?"
"Oh god, please don't remind me of Robert. I really don't need to think about him right now. I just ended things with Michael and your brother is the last person that I want on my mind." I covered my face with my hands and groaned in frustration.
"Oh my god you ended things with Michael? He was so sweet!" Maria seemed more animated when she was gossiping it seemed.
"Please don't remind me. I might have made the worst decision in my life and I really don't want to think about it."
"Wait so you do like him?" Maria asked puzzled.
"I don't know! I do like him and I feel like if I gave him more time then I might come to love him but right now when I compare the way I feel when I'm with him to when I'm with Robert then there's a big lapse. Michael makes me feel safe and wanted and just comforted. But Robert gives me this thrill and I can't help but want to go along for the ride even though that ride may leave me paralyzed in the hospital."
"Well it seems like you have a really bad problem here now don't you?" She sat there thoughtful for a second before she continued speaking. "Okay let me ask you a question. Where do you envision yourself in five years?"
"I don't know? I always thought that I would be a teacher by then. Maybe with a steady boyfriend or maybe even a fiancé."
"Now who do you think would be able to stick with you throughout all of that?" She gave me a meaningful look and before changing the subject.
"Can you tell me about your dad Teresa?"
"I don't know if you want to know the story. It's a sad one and I haven't even gotten over it myself." I hesitated biting my lip.
"Okay I understand T. Just promise me that you'll talk to me about it later."
"I promise." I gave her a sad smile. Suddenly someone knocked on the door and I jumped up to answer it.
Standing outside of the door was Maria's father. He was a tall good looking man with noticeably graying hair but it seemed to be working for him.
"Hello sir," I said looking him in the eye. "What are you doing here?" The answer was obvious but I wanted to know what he would say.
"I came by to see my daughter Teresa," he said strangely polite.
"What makes you think that she wants to see you?"
"Just go in and tell her that I'm here please Teresa." I don't know what made me do exactly that, but I did. Maybe it was because I was in the same situation not so long ago. He would have found his way in without me. He was just humoring me and I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
"One minute," I muttered before ducking back into the room.
"Tell him to leave Teresa," Maria said as soon as I opened my mouth cutting me off.
"Maria, give him a chance. I know that you're mad at him right now but don't make the same mistake that I made with my father. Your dad is out there right now and I can tell that he's about to shit in his pants because he's worried about you. He's scared Mary and you're the only one that he wants right now. You're his little girl and if you shut him out now things won't ever be the same again."
My speech seemed to have had some affect because her eyes misted a bit and she croaked, "Let him in."
"I'm going to go home tonight but I'll be back tomorrow unless you want me to stay here with you for the night?" I really needed to go home and shower but I would stay if Maria needed me to. She probably saw this too because she shoed me away.
"You obviously need to clean up honey. I mean no offense but your makeup is a mess and you could probably use a nice hot bath. I'll be fine, plus dad might want to stay the night."
"Okay if you need anything remember that I'm only a phone call away."
"Yes mom," she said sarcastically.
"Speaking of, you might want to call your mom too." She gave me a look and I just put my hands up defensively. "Just a thought you know."
"Just go home and shower Teresa."
"Fine. I'll see you in the morning." I hugged her quickly, grabbed my bag and headed out of the room.
Outside the room her father was leaning against the wall. He looked startled when he saw me and quickly composed himself. I could tell that no matter what I told him he would find a way to see his daughter even if she didn't want to see him and that itself assured me that I would leave her in safe hands for the night.
"She's waiting for you inside for you," I said gently. He was immediately relieved and calmed down. "Take care of her." With that I began to walk toward the elevator.
Before the elevator arrived Maria's father said, "Thank you for taking care of her for me Teresa." I only nodded in acknowledgment. I stepped into the elevator the same time that he entered the room.
I took a cab home and when I arrived I threw open the door to my room and fell onto the bed. Leisurely I stripped off all my clothes and stepped into the shower which I stayed in for what felt like a half an hour. Stepping out of the shower I wrapped a towel around myself and I let my wet hair just hang down my back. I'll deal with it later, it was too much of a curly mess for me to deal with right now. A knock on my door startled me and I padded over to the door clutching the towel around myself. It was probably one of my nosy neighbors. Mrs. Cooper may try and question me about Robert's sudden appearances in my apartment. Without looking through the peephole I threw the door open and was met by Robert.
"What are you doing here?" I asked totally forgetting the fact that I was only in a towel.
"I said that we would talk later," he replied leaning against the door.
"And so you decided to just show up?"
"Pretty much," he replied nonchalantly.
"So?" I asked not really knowing what to say.
"I don't think that I want to talk anymore."
"Really?" I asked surprised.
"And why is that?"
"I'd rather do other things." He deliberately made sure that I was looking at him as he eye fucked me. Color rose to my cheeks and I looked anywhere but his eyes which were staring at me with lust.
Clutching the towel closer I said, "Well then I'm sure you can go elsewhere to find those other things." I grabbed the door intent on closing it when he stopped it with his foot.
"Look I really want to talk. I was just playing although, other things doesn't sound so bad. I mean I wouldn't object if you wanted to engage in those activities." He smirked and eye fucked me again causing my blush to return.
"Just get in and sit on the couch you pig. I'll be right back I have to put some decent clothing on."
Robert came in closing the door behind him before sitting on the couch. I quickly ran to my room shutting the door closely behind me.
"Don't come out too decent!" Robert yelled from the other room.
When I returned from my room after putting on comfortable sweats, a sports bra and a tank top I found Robert rummaging through the fridge. He didn't notice my presence at first so I just stood there leaning against my door staring at him. He seemed to find what he was looking for, a beer, and stood up closing the fridge door behind him. He took a swig before he noticed me and smirked.
"Find something you like?" he asked raising his eyebrows.
"Not really just wondering why you were raiding my fridge." I smirked too as he began to walk toward me. Once he reached me he placed one hand on top of the wall right above my head pinning me against it. He leaned toward me closing the little distance that was between us and pressing his body flush against mine. Before I could stop him, I don't think I would have stopped him; he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. I was so shocked at first but his tongue pressed against my mouth urging entrance and I quickly relented allowing him access.
Without really thinking about it my hands snaked their way into his hair and I gently pulled on it, not enough to hurt. His hands in turn wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer if that was even possible. Our bodies molded together perfectly our mouths moving in sync. After what seemed to be like forever we pulled apart gasping for breath. He cupped my cheek and kissed me again gently again staring into my eyes.
"That's was one hell of a kiss," Robert murmured his thumb stroking my lip gently.
"I know, we shouldn't have probably done that," I said my hand falling to his neck from his hair.
"And why not?" Robert asked.
"Because you distracted me from talking to you. I can't concentrate when you're attached to me like that."
"So you can't concentrate when I kiss you?" Robert leaned down again and captured my mouth probing again before I pulled away placing my hands on his chest and putting some distance between us.
"No I can't, and if you really came here to talk then you probably should save that for after."
"So there's going to be an after?"
"Maybe, if you behave that is."
"Well then let's get to talking if it's going to get me such a wonderful prize afterward."
"Be serious Robert," I muttered pushing him away and sitting down on the couch.
"I don't like it when you call me that."
"Call you by what, your name?" I joked hoping that he would let it go. Unfortunately he didn't.
"Yes. And you know you don't call me that," He replied taking a seat by me on the couch.
"Okay then Robby," I emphasized, "why don't we start to talk?"
"I would love to do nothing but that Sailor." He winked.
"Please be serious Robert. There are a lot of things for us to talk about and I can't have you goofing off like that."
"Okay I'm serious T. Do you want to start or should I?"
"I'll start I think." I took a deep breath before I dove in. "You know that man you saw me with at the restaurant?" He nodded. "Well Michael was my date. Maria had set us up on a blind date and we went out." When I mentioned Maria he cursed and muttered something about having his back.
"Don't get mad at her Robby, she was just doing something that she thought I needed and quite frankly I don't blame her. Anyways Michael was going to leave on a business trip for two weeks and so the next day he left. That's when you and I-uh that's when we…got back together." I finally found the right words tasting them in my mouth. "Well Michael came back earlier than he expected and his mother had decided that she wanted to take her vacation in the states and Michael was already on his way back here from London so she joined him. Well it turns out that she wanted to see me since Michael had told her about me so we had lunch today when they arrived. I know that you told me that I had to tell him about us but I just couldn't. His mother was coming and he sounded so excited, I couldn't take that away. I didn't want to ruin everything so I couldn't tell him."
"Well you obviously give a fuck about him if you couldn't break up with him just because his mother was coming over."
"Don't talk about him that way Robert," I said icily. "I may not be with him anymore but that doesn't mean you can talk shit about him." Robert stiffened when I mentioned breaking up with Michael.
"You broke up with him?"
"Yes asshole. I would have told you that if you weren't treating him like crap."
"Then why do we need to talk?" he asked pulling me onto his lap wrapping his arms around my waist. "If you ended things then we're good. There's nothing to talk about." He leaned down and captured my mouth and didn't hesitate to dive right in.
I pulled back immediately jumping off his lap in record time. "If you can't see that we have to talk then you're not ready for a relationship."
"What the hell are you talking about? If you broke up with him then what's the problem with you and I being together?" He threw his hands up in exasperation and fell back onto the couch.
"I'm talking about usRobert. We need to talk about us. I already told you about Michael. I ended things with him but that doesn't mean that we're ready for anything, at least not the kind of things that you're ready for."
"And what exactly what am I ready for?" Robert asked although the answer was obvious. He was going to force me to say it and I wasn't going to humor him by looking uncomfortable.
"Sex," I stated simply cocking my head to the side.
"Is it wrong for me to want to sleep with you when I just got you back?"
"No it's not but that doesn't mean that you have to jump my bones every time that you see me just because you want to avoid having an actual conversation with me."
"No we don't. I talk and you try to silence me by kissing me."
"So you don't like my kisses?" he asked with mock offense.
"Of course I do but like I said I can't focus or do anything when you kiss me and right now I want to sit down and all you want to do it maul me!"
"Again is it wrong that I want you?"
"No but I want more than that," I said softly taking a seat next to him.
"What do you mean more?"
"I mean I want the whole package. I want the flowers, the notes, dates, the sweet things whispered to me before I go to bed. I didn't think that I wanted it before but now I do. I want it all Robby."
"I don't know if I can give you all of that Teresa." Robert murmured taking my hand in his, all signs of humor gone.
"But you have given it to me before Robby. You made me feel like I was on the top of the world when we were in high school. The Kit Kats, the constant persistence. You were my everything Robby and I want that Robby back."
"I'm not the same person Teresa. I don't think that I can ever be."
"That's all right though. I love you the way that you are now I just need to know that you'll always be there for me. I need to know that I come first in your life above any other girl Robby."
"But don't you understand Teresa? You do come above everyone in my life. I love you Teresa. I know that you didn't believe me before but believe me know when I say it now. I love you." He cradled my face in his hands.
"I don't know if I can believe that right now Robby but I-I think that I will one day."
"That's good enough for now," he whispered before bending down to kiss me. This time I joined him and melted together again. He pulled me onto his lap again and I wrapped my legs around his waist putting my hands into his hair. His pulled our bodies so close that I could feel the hard sculpted chest beneath his shirt. A moan escaped my mouth and Robert pulled back gasping for breath along with me.
"Damn Teresa," he huffed. "If you keep that up I won't be able to resist."
"Come on lets go to bed." I tugged on his hand and led him to the bedroom.
Once we got in I started to pull the covers back and to pull both of us into the bed but he pulled back.
"Maybe I should sleep on the couch Teresa."
"No it's all right Robby. We're not doing anything tonight I just want you here." He caught the magic word and he hopped in eager. Making room for him I pushed over only to have him pull me back to him.
"Love you," he whispered in my ear. In that moment I felt as if I could almost say it myself to him or even believe it coming from him. Almost.
