'Ten miles from town, and I just broke down, spittin' out smoke on the side of the road.'

I finally stepped off my bike, wheeling it to the edge of the road and laying it down on its side. The hill I was perched on the summit of gave me a view that stretched all the way to the distant mountains. The sun, which was slowly sinking behind these mountains stained everything red and turned my already bright hair into fire.

I thought to myself, that normally anyone looking up here would see me and think me perfectly fine.

Only now I had my head in my hands.

'I got here alone, just tryin' to get home. I'd say I was wrong but you already know.'

I had left a note on the kitchen table at home, saying I had gone out for a ride and would be back home before dinner. The only problem was that I didn't want to go back. And as far as I was concerned, that place wasn't my home.

I needed to find a way to see him again, and apologize for all the wrong things I said.

I knew that wherever he was, I would consider that place my home.

'Believe me, I won't stop at nothin'

Somehow, I knew doing this would mend both of us in someway.

I just needed to be strong enough to bind the wounds I caused.

'To see you, I started runnin'

With new determination I pushed off the ground, grabbing my bike and climbing back on. The sooner the better; before my bravery wavered.

'All that I'm after is a life full of laughter. As long as I'm laughin' with you.'

I had ten miles to cover before it got too late and I pushed my legs faster, standing up and letting the wind cool my face. My nerves started growing and I tried to imagine him laughing with me, when we had been happy. Those days we had lay on the dock of a random lake, singing corny songs on warm summer nights.

'I'm thinkin that all that still matters is a love ever after. After the life we've been through, well I know there's no life after you.'

Everyone in love had these bumps, I realized. It was just how you reacted that decided if your love was true.

I came within sight of the town lights in the distance just as the first stars started appearing in the sky.
