Ok, this is another little thing I had to write for English. Please bare with me, be kind and review. No flames! -

'For God's sake Sal'! You're supposed to be my friend! I need to do well in maths this year; the least you could do is let me look at your equations!'

I sighed and rolled my eyes. 'Did you ever think of actually concentrating in maths instead of sitting doing nothing? Or is that too difficult for you?'

Hurt flashed across Lucy's face. 'That's not air, Sal. You know it's my worst subject.'

'Only because you sit talking to Becky all lesson instead of working,' I retorted hotly.

Anger was evident in her features, 'Oh, so that's it. You're jealous!'

'Jealous. Yeah, right.'

Lucy got up and opened the door. 'I think it's time for you to go now, Sally.'

I snatched up my bag and stormed out angrily. -

I looked around. It was nearly dark out. I would have to take the path through the woods if I was going to make it home before night set in. As I strode through the thick haze of trees, the anger escaped me and I became aware that I was no longer on the path, and was in fact standing in the middle of a thicket of trees that I honestly didn't recognise. Fantastic. I was lost.

Remember that feeling you get when you think you're being watched, but are supposedly alone? Well I remember. I've never forgot how it felt in the forest that night.

I looked around wildly. But all I could see was the shadowed branches of the forest. I started running. I might have been lost, but I wasn't staying in that forest any longer than necessary.

I could hear my frenzied breathing, and my feet pounding on the ground. However, as I listened I could hear something following, crashing through the undergrowth. I kept going. I stole a quick glance behind me. I'm generally a very uncoordinated person, so running in a dark forest while looking behind me was definitely not one o my better ideas. Which I learnt when I caught my foot in the gnarled root of a tree and landed sprawled on the ground.

I shakily rose to my feet and looked around. I was standing at the edge of a small clearing. The mist swirled around as a cold breeze blew past me and I could hear the whispering and rustling of the leaves above me.

But another sound reached my ears- much closer than the leaves on the high branches. I spun around and stumbled back in fear.

Towering above me was a grub like creature made of rolls of fat, and a rounded head at the crown of its sticky, spike covered body. Its eye sockets were hollow, empty, sunken and unseeing. From the creature's mouth two teeth protruded, falling several inches from the gaping hole in its face.

Drool pooled out of its mouth and down the creature's white, waterlogged flesh and as it oozed forward it left pools of slime and mucus in its wake.

As I took in the features of the monstrous being standing tall above me, the stench of rotting flesh filled the air. I whimpered and took an involuntary step backwards. For the second time I fell to the ground.

The creature slowly approached me with obvious meaning and intent. I could only think of one name for this hideous monster. I took a deep breath and squeezed my eyes closed.

- Two weeks later…

- "Welcome to the 10 o'clock news. Earlier today two walkers uncovered the body of Sally Palmer, who was reported missing two weeks ago, after failing to return home after visiting a friend. Cause of death is not yet known…"

So what did you think? Scrappy? I couldn't get the line breaks to work so it might be confusing...
