Based on Jack Prelutsky's book, here are three "Scranimal" poems that I wrote. For those who don't know, a Scranimal is an animal scrambled with another object/animal.

Perched here you see the Cardinalamp
Of all the bright birds, he's the champ
Doesn't need cords or batteries
Or even solar energy
Just give his chain-like tail a pull
And he will make the sun seem dull
His open beak gives out a light
To make the dark of space look bright!
Proud and bright, he's far from mellow
He's more of a lively fellow
Sleeps all day and then, at night,
He opens his beak and shines a light
So brightly that the moon so high
Takes back her light in shame and sighs.
He has a lampshade on his back
But it does naught to cut us slack
I've tried to move it to his nose
But once he sees me, up he goes
His light wakes us from nighttime nap
The Cardinalamp, that prideful chap.
