I see your face, but you will not see mine

For modern paranoia makes it so.

We only hear each other while online,

You're far too far away for me to go.

I know not even if you're who you say,

For there remains no way to prove it true.

Your picture, while it seems as true as day,

Could be as false as that I sent to you.

I want to clear things up, admit my lie,

But each red flag inside me screams out "WAIT!"

Reminding me of foolish girls who've died

And how I would be asking for their fate.

But other than my picture, they are true,

The emails full of love I sent to you.
