My feet find comfortable slumber on this familiar bed
As does this body worn from the day's work
My arms wrap around a soft, furry companion
A cute, stuffed white and black bear
My fingers produce this single verse
Attempting to preserve the words before they vanish from this Earth
My mind strays from the path of purpose
Only to find its way back to the subject at hand
This beating organ exists in separate places
Here, its rhythm echoing inside this tired body
And there, captive to the claim by my love
