A long time ago, in a faraway land,
In a castle by the sea,
A handsome prince ruled the land,
But a problem had he.
None of the maidens were meant for him,
For that was crystal clear,
For none of them where far or sweet
Enough to rule with him here.
One day, the prince felt claustrophobic,
And decided to get fresh air,
He began to walk towards the beach,
And spotted someone there.
A lovely girl stood at the shore,
Staring of into the sea, then turned towards the prince
who thought, "a beauty is he"
But through the many maidens he’d seen
He’d learned a valuable thing:
No matter how thin, tall, or pretty,
There beauty was only skin deep.
But as the prince talked with the girl,
Who was a farmers daughter,
He grew to love her very much,
As they stood besides the water.
As the days grew to weeks and weeks to months,
They grew to love each other.
Soon the day come, now or never,
They would prove there love to another.
When the prince proposed to that girl,
She stared and began to quake.
And though she didn’t break down on him,
She spoke with a voice that could easily shake.
For this kingdom wasn’t a regular one,
Its inhabitants all slaves,
At least those that where Jews
Like prey to Indian braves.
The royal family were Nazis,
And the farmer’s daughter a Jew
She knew together they couldn’t belong
Because of this stupid feud.
She told the prince, slow and clear
Just why she had to say no,
But the prince seeing the problem there,
Would not take here seriously so.
He told her that his parents wont mind,
That they’d welcome her in.
DEATH she answered was the only way,
She’d see into the castle therein.
She hugged him once and said good-bye,
Then turned and walked away.
Her heart said that was the biggest mistake
Of the choices to come her way.
She struggled to keep her mind clear,
To keep herself strong,
But her heart still broke and tears still rolled down
Her face as she walked along.
The prince watched her leave, stunned, shocked
Not wanting to let her go,
He then became mad at the lovely girl
For having him torture him so.
He knew inside, it wasn’t her fault
That she hadn’t expected marriage
Or a house with a white picket fence,
Or a baby in a carriage.
As time wore on, his deep wound healed
And he became wiser now,
He understood why she had left
He understood now:
She’d loved with a love, pure and true,
But she had made him see,
That though their love from the heart,
It was one that could never be.
Though the lovers are dead and gone,
Their story still remains.
Their story stands out from others
For theirs ended in pain.
But now they are in heaven and,
That pain is nothing more.
They’re now united once again
And received the love they waited for.
If you ever happen to walk past,
A castle by the sea,
Don’t forget that dreams can come true,
And a love can be.
