It was a normal August day in the household of Arcy and Kat. It's only a few more days until the start of Arcy's senior year and Kat's freshman year. Kat is 13 going on 14 in February and she usually wears a blue tank-top with black sweatpants. Arcy is 17 going on 18 in October and he usually wears battered jeans with a white T-shirt. He is a very outgoing and social person in school as well as gets good grades. Most girls want to call him their boyfriend, but he has no interest in other girls because he has his own girlfriend, Alison. He has friends in school, but he only calls one his true friend. His name is Delta. Delta and Arcy met in their freshman year and have been friends ever since. With interests almost identical, the stuck with each other through thick and thin and even through Delta's heartbreak with his girlfriend during his sophmore year. This day, Alison and Arcy have plans to go to a baseball game because Arcy's Dad got them tickets for Alison's birthday. What Arcy doesn't know is that he has to take his sister too.

"Alright. I'm going to get going now." Arcy said as he stood beside the door.

"Hey!" Arcy's Dad yelled from his room "You gotta take your sister with you!"

"Really? Why?"

His Dad walked out of his room with Arcy's sister, Kat. "I got 3 tickets for a reason. Now take your sister with you or you can't go at all."

Arcy sighed. "Fine. I'll take her." Arcy and Kat got into their Dad's car and went to pick up Arcy's girlfriend. She lived only a few blocks away and after Arcy picked her up, they started to drive to the baseball game. During the game, Kat started to get hungry and she had to ask Arcy for something to eat.

"Arcy... I'm getting hungry. Can I have something?" Kat asked, shyly.

"Kat, you don't need to be so shy. I'm your brother!" Arcy said as he stood up "What do you want?

"A hot dog, please..." Kat said as she blushed. Arcy left Alison and Kat to get the food.

Alison looked over at Kat and said "You had better keep your mouth shut the rest of the game."

"Wh-why?"

"I'm trying to impress your brother there and I'm not letting his snot nosed sister keep that away from me." Alison poked her on the chest. "You got that?"

"Yes, mam. I-I won't say anything more." Arcy came back with Kat's food and sat down in between them.

"Here ya go, Kat." Arcy said as he handed her the food. Kat took it without a "Thank you" which was unlike her. "Hey, Kat? Are you alright?" She shook her head. "Do you want to go home?" Kat nodded. "Sure. We can go home. Lets just hope that Dad doesn't get mad at us. If he does, I'll say it was my idea to leave, okay?"

"What about me? I want to stay!" Alison said. "And I want to you to stay here with me, Arcy!"

"Oh... well... I think I'd rather leave with Kat."

"If you leave here with her, we're through!"

"Fine. As long as my sister is fine, I'm happy. But you need a ride home."

"No I don't. Not from you." Alison stood up and walked toward the south entrance.

"Hey, kid." One man said from the row in front of him "Good for you. Lookin' out for your sister like that.

Arcy and Kat walked out of the northern entrance toward the car and Arcy got into the drivers seat while Kat sat in the passenger seat.

"Hey Kat, are you still hungry? I got some money if you want to go anywhere." At a red light, Arcy put his hand on Kat's head. "So, where is it?"

"I want to... go to..." Kat looked out of the window "Friendly's."

"Sure. Whatever you want." Arcy made a left turn and they pulled into the parking lot. Arcy didn't have anything there. He let Kat have whatever she wanted. They left after Kat was finished with her ice cream at the end of her meal and in the car, Arcy said "Thanks, Kat. I don't want to date a girl who isn't kind to my sister." Kat blushed and Arcy smiled. They got home and their Dad didn't ask any questions about what had happened, because they've been gone for the length of the game. During the night, Kat had had a horrible dream about her first day at high school. She went to the door of her father's room, to get comfort from him, but he was fast asleep and if she disturbed him, he would just say "You're too old to sleep in my bed. Go back to sleep." She then went to Arcy's room and opened the door, which woke him up.

"Kat? Is that you? Why're you here?"

"I-I had a bad dream'

"That doesn't really answer my question but if you had a bad dream, don't you usually go to Dad's room?"

"Ye-yeah but I don't want to disturb him."

"Okay. I don't see anything wrong with it." Arcy took a few pillows out from underneath his bed and one of his spare covers and set it up for Kat. "There you go. All for you."

"Thanks, Arcy." She crawled into the bed with Arcy and set herself up to sleep and fell into a deep sleep.
