No negative feelings were made between Delta and Kat, even though Delta's feelings were now shown. Kat liked him, a lot, and loved having time to spend with him. Arcy and Cristy grew further and further apart as Delta and Kat grew closer. Kat woke up during one night in the month of August, which was Delta's birth month. She sat up, leaving Delta laying in the bed, and looked at Arcy. He was alone in his bed because Cristy was in her own room for personal reasons. Kat stood up and walked over to Arcy, sat down next to his head, and started to play with his longish hair. It woke him up.
"Hey, Kat... What're you doing?" Arcy asked.
"I don't know..." Kat said "I just feel restless tonight... Do you want anything that I can get? Like a glass of water or milk?" Arcy shuffled around in his covers and was having trouble sitting up, like he was off balance. "Are you okay, Arcy?"
"I'm... fine Kat. Don't worry. You can get me a glass of milk though... right?"
"Of course, Arcy. I did offer, anyway." Kat stood up and quietly walked down to the kitchen. She poured a clean glass full of cool, white milk. She brought it back upstairs and found Arcy back to laying down in the bed. "You sure you're alright, Arcy?" Kat asked in concern.
"I feel really really cold... Like... I have no effort to do anything..." Arcy said. He paused, smiled, and finally said "Yeah... I'm sick..."
"Here." Kat said as she quickly knelt back down and poured the milk down his throat. Arcy picked his head up to drink it quickly, then plopped it back down on the pillow. Kat stood up, went into the bathroom, got a rag, and covered it with cool water. She went back to Arcy and held the rag over his eyes and forehead. Delta shuffled around in the other bed, but he didn't wake up.
"Kat..." Arcy said, moving the rag away from his eyes "Do you like it here?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I mean... Do you enjoy being here? These people are nice but... I feel like I don't belong in a place like this away from a town or city."
"To be honest, Arcy, I'm just like you on that. I don't really enjoy it here. No one around to talk with. And... I really miss Rusty..." Kat started to tear up a little, but she restrained them.
"What if we were to leave? Try and find our town? I remember our home address. Maybe if we know the address of this home, we can use..." Arcy stopped.
"Arcy?" Kat felt his head and he was really burning up, so she quickly put the rag back over his eyes and looked around the bathroom for any sort of medicine. She couldn't find anything and started to worry about her brother. If the fever was so sever, she might lose the only other person she cared about. "Oh no... Arcy.." She muttered. She ran back to him and listened to his chest and he was breathing steadily, he was just in a deep sleep. Kat let out a sigh of relief when she heard that. "What can we use? I mean... if we were to know the way to get back to the town... How could we get there?" Kat said to herself. Kat stayed up for the rest of the night, watching her brother for any signs that he might need her. The sun rose and Delta started to wake up and he saw Kat sitting at the foot of Arcy's bed, watching.
"Kat? What're you doing?" he asked.
"Arcy isn't feeling well. I'm staying with him until he gets better."
"Well... Did you give him any medicine?"
"You think I didn't try to find some? There isn't any to give."
"It might be in that big 'mobile hospital' Cristy's parents keep around."
"Yeah but... I don't know where that thing is." Kat was at the foot of the bed for hours until she began to doze off from the lack of sleep she had last night. She fell asleep on the floor so Delta picked her up and put her back in their bed. Kat slept for a while until she woke up and found Arcy was still sleeping soundly in his bed, but Delta was downstairs eating. She ran down and found Delta at the table in the kitchen. When he saw her, Delta stood up and got another, identical sandwich out of the fridge that was cut in two to be shared by Arcy and Kat. "Thanks, Delta. I'll be sure to tell Arcy that you made it for us." Delta smiled and Kat ran back upstairs. She crouched beside Arcy's bed and nudged him to wake up. Arcy groggily opened his eyes. "Here." Kat said as she handed half the sandwich to Arcy "Delta made it for us."
"Did he? That's nice of him. He really didn;t need to though. I could've..."
"Arcy... You don't get out of bed. You're sick..." Arcy did sit up to eat, though. He and Kat enjoy what Delta had made for them. "Arcy..." Kat started after a few minutes after finishing the food "What... What was Mom like?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like... Who was she? What did she look like and her personality?"
"That was so long ago... I can hardly remember her..." Arcy knew they didn't share the same mother, but he didn;t want to add on to their troubles by telling her that. "She was only a few years younger than Dad. About 4 years and she had the most perfect brown hair, kind of like yours." Kat blushed "She was very outgoing, but always found time to spend with me and you when you were little." Arcy stopped.
"Is that all? Nothing else?" Kat asked.
"Like I said: It was so long ago."
"How did she die?" Kat wanted to learn more.
"I-I really don't know..." Arcy said, shocked at the question "Dad never told me how, he just said she had passed away. You were only 2 when it happened." Arcy looked outside and already saw the sun hiding behind the horizon. "Wow is it getting that late?" Kat stood up and felt Arcy's head. It was still a little warm.
"You should really get back to bed, Arcy. I think the sleep is helping." Arcy nodded and laid his head back down. Delta walked it right after he did that and sat down next to Kat on their bed. They waited only a little bit longer before they were ready to sleep.
"Umm... Delta? Is it okay if I..."
"Sure, Kat. If you want to." Kat smiled and crawled next to Arcy in his bed. Arcy wasn't asleep yet so he turned around and was face to face with Kat. He moved Kat's hair away from her face to see her eyes.
"Thanks for telling me all that, Arcy. I know it must've been emotional inside you."
"No problem, Kat. After all, we're siblings. it's the least I could do for my sister."
