寻者得萌兆
圣人不知来
天心晦涩矣
从天子皇帝
Omens are found by those who seek them
But the wisest know not the future
Heaven's will is masked and clouded
Give heed to the emperor! For he is heaven's son
-Author's note:
The English translation is not precisely accurate, but I feel it gives the poem more power. A more direct translation would be: Those who seek omens obtain them / Sages know not what is to come / The will of heaven is obscure / Follow the Son of Heaven – the emperor.
This was a side project that formed in my head while writing a fantasy story set in a fictionalized China.
