You make me see red

I sit and I wait.

Head bowed to hide from your hateful eyes.

You spit your words, and taunt my opinions.

You don't stop 'till I'm fighting back tears.

Tears that I refuse to shed in front of you.

Because then you'll know your words affect me.

Then you'll win.

And so I bite my lip, and concentrate on breathing.

Concentrate on hiding my rage.

For every word you snarl makes me see red.

And secretly I wish for you to be dead.

But I say nothing. While you continue to rant.

While in my head I dream my dreams.

My dreams of freedom and a happily ever after.

My dreams filled with the longing to skip off into the sunset.

And then you, you I'll finally forget.
