One last puff of air

Exhaled from the lips.

Colorless and cracked,

The cool taste of water forgotten.

One last tear

Dribbling down a hollowed cheek.

One of many shed,

But a lonely glimmer of peace among despair.

One last gaze

From those milky brown eyes.

Forever haunted,

Their former glow reduced to a woeful dream.

One last whisper

Echoing through the night.

Though its composer has long been dead

From the moment her hope went cold.
