"No," he cried, "No please, don't!" I turned around, too weak to watch him scream. He began to wail, and howl, like an animal, which I suppose, is all we really are in the end. "I'm sorry Quinton." I whispered. Behind me, the sound of his cries escalate

I walked through the white halls, glowing with florescent lights. I didn't want to do this, I shouldn't be doing this, but I had to. It was more than just mu job, it was my duty. As unpleasant as it was, I made a promise, and I was intent on keeping it. The hall seemed endless, but finally I reached room 666. I stepped on to the transfer pad, and punched in the key code. The wall began to shimmer, as I walked through it with ease. I saw the boy huddled in a corner. His hair was sticking up wildly, and his clothes were stained with blood. From what, I had no idea. I stood there for ten minutes before he noticed another creature sharing his air. He looked up at me with deep brown eyes, shimmering with tears. I looked down at my clipboard. I would like to say that it wasn't because I couldn't dare meet his frightened gaze, but then I would be lying. "Quinton," I said, using his mother name rather than number, 936. "It's time." The boy looked at me, begging for some hint of salvation. There was none. "You must go." I told him. "You made a promise."
"I didn't promise anything." He hissed. I looked back at my papers.
"It will be over soon." I said.
"Please," he begged, the venom draining from his voice. "Please, I can't do this anymore."
"We all have to make sacrifices." I replied as I signaled for the escorts. They took Quinton roughly by the shoulders.
"No," he cried, "No please, don't!" I turned around, too weak to watch him scream. He began to wail, and howl, like an animal, which I suppose, is all we really are in the end.
"I'm sorry Quinton." I whispered. Behind me, the sound of his cries escalated.
