Chapter One Hello, my name is A-ya Fox most people call me "Ami" though. Even though I am just a normal, sixteen-and-a-half-year-old girl, I got that nickname because I love sitting in my Sycamore tree, high above the soft, bouncy ferns to feel the warm Californian air, I am called a "disaster in the making". As I brush my hair, and put my right blue-tinted contact in my eye, I rush over to my black backpack to get my phone, when my alarm clock starts screaming. "Beep!" Beep!" "BEEP!" I run over to it and push the off button. I try to shut it off before it wakes my mother up, but I am just a few seconds to late, and I hear her waking up. For the past five years I have awoken an hour before my alarm clock, but I haven't set any alarm to wake up at that time. I walk back to my mirror to put in my other contact and style my hair. I have long, dark golden hair that has deep, dark brown streaks in it. My blue-tinted contacts change my eye color from a greenish hazel to a blue-green mix that looks like transparent turquoise. Thirty minuets later, my hair is curled, wavy, and styled in a half-up, half down bun. I repack my backpack with my Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and English books, along with my ipod, phone, and make-up kit. Then I go outside to wait for my bus (which is usually late). Soon my bus is on the last pick-up and I can very soon go to my classes and be done with this dreaded place. Its not that I hate school, its just the pretending I have to do to stay the queen of this school. As soon as I step off the bus I spot my group of friends and the group of "lets hang around Ami to be popular". Then I see, Harper, my ex-best friend. I cant remember a time when that girl didn't cheat, or use other people (especially me) for her own personal gain. Suddenly, Harper spots me and rushes in. "So, little miss everything, how are you today? Do you still hear those voices? How's Gabriel? I heard you were cheating on him with mark. You know, you don't have to bed every guy you meet. You only need one. I can't wait to tell Gabriel that his girlfriend is cheating on him." Harper said "No,Harper, I haven't been cheating on Gabriel, and I have never bedded anyone. If you tell Gabriel this lie, I will-" I said very angrily "Tell me what lie?" Gabriel said, interrupting me. "Oh, hello Gabriel. Would you like me to tell you the little fact that I found out about your girlfriend? Just to warn you, its not very nice." Harper said deviously "What is it, Harper? You know that just because you want me to break-up with Ami, so that you can go out with me, doesn't mean that I will believe you. I will believe Ami before I ever believe you." Gabriel said, "Now what is it?" "Well I was told by Mark, that Ami had spent the night over at his house. Mark also told me that she has a nice body, and he would like to see it again." Harper said with a smirk. "Ami, is this true?" Gabriel asked quietly "The part where I went to Mark's house is. But I never let him see me like that, I went to see Alyssa. I would never let him see me in that way." I said "Ami, you are such a stupid, immature liar. Gabriel, if you want the truth, ask Mark. until then, keep believing Ami's lies." Harper called over her shoulder as she walked away, leaving Gabriel and I all alone. "We better get to class before we're late" Gabriel sighed "Yeah" I said quietly "Ami, what's wrong? You know that I will trust you, way before I would ever, ever trust Harper." he said "Its nothing," I lied, "just a bad headache." " I hope you feel better after school, I have a surprise for you. Love you" he said kissing me on the cheek. "'Kay, love you too." I said kissing him back, then walked to my math class.
