My range of poetry is vast
all goes by many different names
some are good and some are bad
others cheesy
some too sombre

There's the pieces that don't make it past a line
or a verse or two if lucky
random moments of inspiration
that never amounted to anything special

Then there's the stuff that gets too waffely
too long winded
or too concise

But once every blue moon
when the inspiration is right
a poem can be a wonder
something to behold and admire

And I'll tell you this
if you find a piece like that
you should treasure it in your heart
or at least put it somewhere safe
and remember it
for ever and a day
and give the writer a bit of praise
because not everyone can be a genius
