"Little… Girl?"Layla echoed, her eyes darting from the short black haired girl to the one with the axe. She chuckled, "An Egyptian goddess dares to call me a 'ittle girl'?"
"Ah? She already knows who I am! What should I do, Georgia?"the black haired girl smiled, her grip slightly loosening on the whip that was holding the scythe back.
"She must be a stalker or something! And I have no idea… Sandra,"Georgia replied, also grinning, the ends of her dirty blonde hair falling past her shoulders.
Adrian Philips grumbled to himself, smacking his head on the floor, "Why is it them that come to help us…"
"Haha… you little brats…"Layla's eyes grew even a darker red than before. She swung the scythe's blade and whip out of Sandra's hands, kicking the surprised Georgia into the air, "Don't mess with me!"
The two girls jumped back, distancing themselves from the hatred-filled mortal goddess. Sandra grit her teeth, noticing the severe burns on Layla's hands from the scythe's handle. "That weapon… really hates her…"she muttered.
"And those eyes… Sandra, she's one of them… she's a 'Fallen',"Georgia said, raising her axe into the air, "But that doesn't matter…"she smiled.
"We have someone who can hold her down!"Sandra nodded.
Layla raised Adrian's scythe once more, trying to finally cut down the blind giant, Otus, who was feeling around for his eyes.
"Where… Where are they… how could you do this to me… Artemis!"Otus screamed, his thundering voice causing a minor earthquake.
"You will pay… You will die! Just like your disgusting brother, MONSTER!"Layla Thompson cried out, her eyes full of glee. She cackled as she brought the death blade to the giant' neck, waiting for the blood to gush out. Just when she was about to cut down Otus, someone kicked the girl down to the floor and pinned her there. Layla growled, "What? Who?"
What... this ... this mortal god's power! It is equal to mine... when I've just awakened! No, wait... my powers are being suppressed by him... Layla thought.
A teenage boy with tanned skin and black hair stood on Layla' back, facing the bleeding giant. He put his hand on Otus' forehead and whispered, "Líkāi... Bìng pànduàn zài biéchù… Leave… and be judged elsewhere…"
A soft light glowed from underneath the boy's hand and the giant disappeared into thin air, leaving behind his two eyes that were lying nearby. Sandra let out a soft sigh, "Well, that's that… that wasn't too fun…"
"No way…"Lucifer breathed, "He's able to cast a spell that difficult? Already... in his second month attending the academy?"
"Get off of me! How dare you trample over me!"Layla snarled, struggling to get back up to her feet.
"Sleep... for now… Artemis…"a slightly gruff voice escaped the boy' mouth and Layla felt something stab her back before she blacked out.
"You know, you didn't need to shoot her like that, David,"a girly voice scolded.
"You treated her like an animal!" another feminine voice huffed.
"…..Well…"a low pitched, yet unsure voice trailed off.
"But still, hey, there's a bigger problem here guys…"a slightly masculine voice sighed.
"Yeah, there is… Why the hell are you three still here?"another voice growled.
"Hey, is that what you say to the people who helped you out?"the girly voice spoke once more.
"Oh no, you didn't!" the same feminine voice from before snapped.
"By the way, David… what did you put in that tranquilizer dart? She still hasn't woken up…"
Layla Thompson blinked open her eyes to see a brightly lit room with multiple white beds. She groaned, feeling the comfortable mattress of the bed she was in before shutting her eyes again. I feel so dizzy… what happened to me?
"Oh… she's awake," Lucifer's voice sounded from above her.
"Nice going, Adrian,"Georgia sneered from nearby.
"What did I do? It was you idiots you made the most noise!"Adrian snapped.
"Excuse-moi? You did not just say that to us girls!"Sandra exclaimed.
Layla opened her eyes again to see four faces peering down at her. She gasped and quickly hid underneath the bed covers. The girl slowly peeked over the edge of the blankets to see that the four faces were still there.
"Hey, there, little girl… You're finally awake,"Sandra smiled down at her.
"Haha… little girl…"Georgia giggled.
"Layla, are you okay?"Lucifer asked worriedly.
"That idiot…"Adrian grumbled.
Suddenly, Layla sat up, hitting her head on the four of them, who were grouped together. She rubbed her forehead and questioned, "Okay, so what is going on here? I recognize Lucifer and Adrian… but who are you two?"she directed the question at Georgia and Sandra.
"Oh, I'm Sandra! Sandra Park!"the girl with curly black hair introduced herself.
"And I'm Georgia… Georgia Peterson!"The tall girl with dirty blond hair grinned. She motioned over to the tanned boy with black hair who was standing outside of the group, "And this is David Lee! He doesn't talk much… actually, it's rare to even hear him talk!"
Layla squinted her eyes, peering at David through the small slits. The boy stared back at her, blinking slowly. "You... You're from earlier... you're the one who stopped me... with a tranquilizer dart?" she asked.
"And how do you know that?" Adrian questioned.
"I overheard your conversation..." Layla shrugged.
"Yup, you were shot with a tranquilizer gun!" Sandra grinned.
"Like an animal," Georgia nodded.
"Lovely," Layla growled, her tone dripping with sarcasm. She blinked rapidly, thinking back to what she said earilier, "Wait... stopped me? Why?"
The confused girl stared down at her hands, which were heavily bandaged, "What happened... What happened to my hands? Why are they bandaged? Why is the only thing I remember is blood... blood and death? Why am I here? What happened-"
"Wait a second here, little girl,"Sandra Park cut her off, "So, you're saying that you don't remember anything but blood... and death? How do you feel when you think about those two things?"
"... I feel... when I first think about it... I feel scared... frightened about myself... and then when I keep thinking about it..."Layla's head hung, her bangs covering part of her face, "I feel... extremely happy... as if I accomplished something... great..."
Georgia Peterson absent-mindedly tugged at her dirty blonde hair and said, "Alright then... not creepy at all.."she glared over at Adrian and Lucifer, who were quietly standing to the side, trying to inch away, "What did you guys do? She' a newcomer, right? Then why did she already fall to this state?"
"Um... well..."Lucifer trailed off, averting his eyes from her.
"We just did what we had to do and let it happen,"Adrian muttered.
"It?"Sandra asked, raising one eyebrow at them.
"We kinda let her parents die and we kinda... forced her to..."Lucifer started to reply.
"We made a bet with that girl that if her parents die in 24 hours, then she will join us and enter this academy,"Adrian admitted, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"You WHAT? You... Do you have any kind of logic in that death god brain of yours, Adrian? And you're Annubis, the Egyptian god of the underworld before Osiris! If you thought about it logically, like the true god would, then this wouldn't have happened in the first place!"Sandra abruptly yelled, "It'll take more than a million years for you to fully become a god like this!"
Something inside Adrian snapped, "Hah! Like you're one to talk! You can't even awaken your godly form! That newcomer can do better than you!"
"You can't even do a simple one word spell!"Georgia joined in the fight.
While they were bickering, David slowly approached Layla and held her wounded hands. The patient blinked rapidly, not really knowing how to respond to him. He muttered softly, "Let me see your burns."
"Burns?"Layla echoed, still confused. David Lee unwrapped the bandages to reveal badly singed hands which were the causes of holding a weapon that rejected the user. He laid his hands over hers, his expression blank, and a soft glow emitted from his fingertips, slowly spreading out to the palms. Layla watched him while the boy started to heal her hands, being silent for a while, then questioned, "Um... what god... are you?"
"Oh, right!"Sandra exclaimed, halting the argument between herself, Adrian, and Georgia. She turned to Layla, "He's Shen-Nung, a Chinese god of medicine and agriculture! I'm Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of justice, truth, balance, law... and that kind of stuff."
"And I'm Sif, a Norse goddess of the harvest and earth,"Georgia smiled.
"Um... you guys still haven't answered my other questions,"Layla spoke up, "What really happened to me? Where am I?"
"l will answer your questions for them,"a gruff voice announced from the door to the grand room. The voice belonged to a stubby, slightly wide boy with slit-like eyes who wore the same uniform that Lucifer and Adrian had when Layla first met them. Layla hadn't noticed until now that they were all wearing the same school uniform except for herself.
The boy walked toward them and introduced himself, "I am a third year at this academy's high school section, and I aim to take back my godly throne as Bishamon, a War God of Japan."
"Ah... I see now why people here call you Pig Warrior Bishamon,"Adrian smirked. His comment was rewarded with a sharp glare from Lucifer, David, Sandra, and Georgia.
"Ahem,"the pudgy boy cleared his throat before continuing, "My name is Brian Archer, a student of Renaissance Academy, which is the school of mortal gods who aim to regain their godly selves. You are Layla Thomas, who is also the goddess Artemis, greek deity of the Hunt, and you are being treated in the Infirmary of this academy due to holding a weapon that clearly rejected you and loss of consiousness. You are also a Fallen, a mortal god who can never dare to try to reach the heavens again. As a Fallen, you are the natural enemy of the entire academy, including all of the mortal deities attending it."
I'm... a Fallen? Layla thought, the words echoing in her brain.
Hello! Grachiel-desu! Sry for the long wait... again TT^TT somehow, during the summer, I can't find the time to continue my stories... I wonder why... :/
Btw, "Líkāi... Bìng pànduàn zài biéchù", which is Chinese, means "Leave... and be judged elsewhere"... thank god for google translate :)
