You and I fought tooth and nail

Against one another for him

Because we both wanted to be loved by him

To be favored by him

To not be hurt by him

We wanted everything he was willing to give

But what he gave wasn't much

We got a little

But he always made sure to keep the most for himself

We ripped each other apart

And cut one another down

Grasping at the ground

Like starving chickens at whatever he would throw down

He took away all that we had

Until all we had was him

And that wasn't much to have

But he had the two of us

And he made us out to be much less than we were

With that lying, sly tongue,

And he split us down the middle

And turned us to hate one another,

If we could go back to the way we were,

We'd know to kill him first

But we can't,

We hate each other for

The lies he taught us to believe about one another

And when we hated each other

He broke out backs to do work for him

He stole from us

And sold us back our bodies

At a higher price than they'd been sold

And kept our traditions hostage
