Many years into the future, the human race will explore the stars and become very powerful as they harness the powers of science. Unfortunately not all species will welcome them with friendship and hospitality.

In a system on the edge of our galaxy there is a large cluster of black holes surrounding a dark matter nebula. Unknown to most is that this anomaly is the portal to another dimension, a dimension of pure darkness. Within this dimension reside non-corporeal beings made of shadows and malice that wish to engulf the universe in darkness.

July 12, 21XX

Polaris solar system

The warship Apollo, large, silver ship with a long triangular body riddled with cannons, emerged from a temporary wormhole into a solar system orbiting the star Polaris. When they emerged they saw that a large black warship that was shaped like a pair of mandibles was entering the system.

On the bridge of the Apollo, the crew was rushing to battle stations. The captain, a tall man with robotic arms and legs and a mechanical right eye, had a grim look on his face as he observed the enemy ship closing in on the star. He knew what would happen if they failed, and, because of that, they mustn't fail.

"Launch the razor attack wings!" yelled the captain, "I want that ship destroyed!"

Small ships, that looked like axe-heads with a cockpit between the blades where the handle would be, swarmed out of the hanger bay and began to pepper the dark warship with lasers.

The small ships swarmed around the warship, dodging the weapons blasts that were fired at them. The blasts of energy from the smaller ships tore chunks out of the dark warship, but the ship still flew towards the star.

Suddenly, wraith like ships began to emerge from the hull of the dark warship and fly toward the razor fighters. The new fighters shot blasts of black lightning that consumed the razor fighters with dark energy.

"Bring the forward canons online and open fire on that ship!" yelled the captain, "We will stop them from reaching the star at all costs!"

The Apollo aimed its large canons at the dark ship and began to fire a barrage of intense laser-fire. The lasers burned gashes in the ship's hull, but the dark ship continued to move toward the star.

Suddenly the mandibles at the front of the dark ship began to crackle with black lightning and dark energies. The ship then launched the charged energy into the star as a beam. After absorbing all of the energy, the star began to darken and implode, creating a black hole.

"Activate the wormhole generator," the captain sighed in defeat, "get us out of here before we're caught in the gravity well."

With those words, the Apollo flew through a temporary wormhole while the dark ship flew into the black hole.
