My Secret Beneath the Waves
The little girl
With big brown eyes
And thoughts not thought by other little girls
Lied in her bed with a thick green blanket
Protecting her from the unknown danger around
But the approaching danger
Was not something she could escape
It was a ghost in her mind
The ghost of her past
Plaguing her sleepy thoughts
Water sprayed around her running feet
In the magical dream
Nothing could go wrong
In the magical dream
The water engulfed her and pulled her under the flawless waves
The cool ocean spray stained her rosy cheeks
And pushed through her silky chocolate waves
Shhhhh, the ocean whispered
You must not tell, the ocean whispered
The little girl was confused
What must she not tell?
But the little girl knew very soon
She knew that she was different
And she must not tell
Because if she did
It would be a matter of life or death
It was her secret to claim
Her secret to keep
It was her secret to triumph
And her secret to fear with every ounce inside her
