"Aish," Jai groans with frustration, almost pulling her hair out in annoyance. She glares at the lonely textbook sitting before her, illuminated by the desk lamp, and ignores the soft sigh emitting from the person next to her.
"Is it really that difficult for you?" Miyu murmurs, furrowing her brows in discontentment. Having to be your best friend's tutor had sounded easy and convenient at first, but now it was becoming a hassle. Especially when that best friend was Jai Ryeom.
Burrowing her head in her arms with fatigue, Jai gives a muffled reply, "I just don't understand any of this!" she pushes the book away from her irritably, "None of it makes sense!"
"It makes sense," Miyu corrects, "just not to you."
Jai groans again and gets up from her seat. "Let's continue this later. I'm getting hungry," She stretches her arms out into the sky and yawns, covering her mouth. "Should we go out?" Jai adds, though a bit rhetorically.
"Ah… not today. I have somewhere to go." Miyu declines, getting up as well, sliding her bag-strap on her shoulder.
Raising an eyebrow in suspicion, Jai smirks and asks, "With who?" crossing her arms against her chest.
Rolling her eyes, Miyu turns away and waves her hand at Jai. "No one you need to know about."
"Well, okay! Have fun with Kyu!" Jai shouts, laughing, getting a piqued wave of dismissal from her friend.
As Miyu's form fades away, so does the smile on Jai's face. She looks down at the textbook on the desk and frowns at it. "I hate you." She mutters, pushing it off the table, making a loud thump as it lands on the floor.
Kristy quietly walks down the hall, peering curiously at the paper in her hands. It was her schedule and list of classes. She looks up and attempts to find a clock on the wall to see what period it was, but was saddened to find none.
She usually had a bounce in her step, but she found herself walking self-consciously in such a prestigious school as this. SMTOWN. Many would've dreamed of attending such a place. The only way she had gotten in was because of an academic scholarship she was awarded back in her previous school.
Due to her incessant indulgence in her mind-rambling she couldn't register the fact that she had collided into something. Falling off balance a bit, she tumbles to the ground, confused. When she looks up, she sees a girl quietly staring at her, and flanking both of her sides stood a boy giving her a crossed look, while the other slightly concerned.
Dusting herself off, she stands up before them and bows, "Mianhamnida!" before turning to get out of their way. Not bothering to look back, she shakes her head profusely at herself and sighs, "How embarrassing."
"Ne, I wonder who that was. I've never seen her before." Kyuhyun mumbles, looking back repeatedly behind them. Onew nods rapidly in agreement before adding on softly, "I think we should've helped her up though."
"Wae? She was the one that bumped into us." Kyuhyun says incredulously, his voice raised, scoffing a bit. "Where's your sense of courtesy?" Onew shakes his head and a tsk lolls off his tongue. Miyu sighs and mutters, "I can't believe I'm friends with you two babos."
"—best friends." Onew rectifies, a grin breaking out on his face as both he and Kyu start leaning into her side, forcing her to lock arms with them. Her facial expression becomes irritated but before she could reply, Kyuhyun looks at her from the side and smiles, "But you love us for it, right?"
She doesn't answer, but it's not like they needed one anyway.
Jai skips through the halls happily searching for her unnies, who always seemed to be in one group. She finally spots them huddled before their next class. "Annyeong~!" She sings, sliding herself into the middle. "Ah, maknae. Where've you been?" Tiffany smiles, ruffling her brown, curly, hair.
"I was studying with Miyu, of course!"
"Oh really now?" Jessica says skeptically, squinting and leaning in closer, giving her the ice princess look. Jai laughs nervously before Yoona adds on, laughing as well, "Miyu was probably the one studying while you lazed around doing nothing."
"I learned from the best!" Jai replies, sticking her tongue out. "Jai-ah! You shouldn't do that." Seohyun reprimands. Jai sighs. "Yes, unnie." And pats bemused Seohyun on the back.
The bell finally rings and they all sigh, walking into the classroom tiredly.
The classroom is vast and spacious, typical for a dance class. The students, co-ed, are all in their respective places, Jai placed in between her unnies, Hyoyeon and Sooyoung. Their sunbae, Eunhyuk walks in, placing the stereo on the floor. "Annyeong," He smiles, waving at everyone. "Annyeonghaseyou!" Everyone responds subsequently getting a laugh from him.
"Ah, so energetic at this time of day." He chuckles then takes off his jacket, earning swoons from both sides of the room. "Alright, let's start off with the moves I taught you on Friday. You've all practiced right?" He walks around and nods with satisfaction at their "yes'" and nods.
He uses the portable remote to cue the music and paces around the room, observing them dancing. He moves over Jai to help her perfect the last step, but was interrupted by a noisy ruckus in the front of the class.
He turns around to chastise, but sees his assistant, or dongsaeng, huffing. "Mianhe. I'm late aren't I?" Kai breathes heavily and throws his backpack to the floor. "Kai-ah, this is the third time this week." Eunhyuk says, furrowing his brows with concern.
Kai, who doesn't look at him, goes to his place and repeats, "Sorry. It won't happen again."
Sighing at the troublemaker, Eunhyuk turns once more to Jai, but lets his gaze linger on her for a moment. She perspires and almost breaks down at his staring, wondering if she was doing something wrong. His facial expression suddenly turns into one of resolve and he snaps his finger.
"Kai, switch places with Sooyoung."
He turns around quickly and shouts, "Wae?" in refusal. He didn't want to move his place. Especially since he was next to Yoona.
"Ne? Are you deaf? Go." Eunhyuk pulls him over. When he finally went over next to Jai, he groans and gives her a sneer. "Bwoh? Is something wrong?" Jai says, scoffing at his rudeness.
Before Kai could retort, Eunhyuk plays the music and they both immediately start dancing.
Soon, the bell rung and class was over. Eunhyuk said his goodbyes to the classes, individually and wholly. Jai removes the towel around her neck and bends down to get her backpack, when she is suddenly startled by Kai who abruptly pushes her out of the way.
"Hurry up, will you." He mutters, getting his backpack with one swift move of his arm. Disbelieving and shocked, she opens her mouth to fire back, but is astonished once again to see him in her face.
"You should really practice some more." He says, looking at her from head to toe before smirking disgustedly. Embarrassed and infuriated, she is left standing alone in the room.
"Ah, this is nice." Kyuhyun says, staring up at the sky laid out before their eyes. Or his and Onew's, as Miyu was too busy taking an (attempted) nap. The three of them were sprawled on the grassy area of the campus' quad, with Miyu's head resting on Onew's thigh, who was sitting cross-legged, and Kyuhyun laying close to them.
Onew and Miyu both hum in response, not wanting to ruin the atmosphere. Kyuhyun doesn't get the message and looks up at them, an annoyed glint in his eye. "You two shouldn't do that. Someone might think you're dating."
His face getting red with a blush, Onew is let out of his trance at Kyuhyun's words and immediately gets ready for Miyu to move off of him. She shoots up from her place awkwardly, fighting the hotness threatening to appear on her face. They slowly scoot away from each other.
The ambience suddenly becomes tense, but Kyuhyun is the first to break the silence.
After a while, he laughs, lightening up the mood. "Why'd it suddenly become uncomfortable?" Onew attempts a laugh as well, his eyesmile making it's usual appearance, although Miyu remains quiet.
Kyuhyun sighs. Before thinking of the consequences, he grabs a fistful of grass and showers it all over Miyu, who almost screeches and jumps up. Onew laughs at her reaction, getting up as well, knowing what was just about to happen. Frantically, she pats away the pieces of grass and turns around, facing the evil being that is Cho Kyuhyun.
"Kyu-oppa—" He says, his face full of mock-obliviousness.
She bends down quickly and pulls out some grass in both of her hands. Letting out some kind of shout, she throws it at Kyuhyun and Onew simultaneously.
They laugh and shout, chasing after each other, never caring about whether or not they disrupted the peaceful aura of the quad.
The bell suddenly rings, the sound echoing all around her, and Kristy starts to become frantic. She fumbles around with the paper in her hand and starts to run, dodging all the other students exiting the classrooms. She glances back and forth from the titles above the doors and her paper, looking for her class.
After a few more steps, she finally sighs in relief. Class 2A, she almost glares at the room placard. Promptly, she walks in before the bell rings, holding the paper shakily, but face full with confidence.
The class' eyes almost pierced through her soul, but she ignored their looks of curiosity and benightedness. The teacher looks at her expectantly and asks, "And who are you?"
Kristy takes a deep breath and bows quickly, "Annyeonghaseyou, chonun Lim Kristy imnida!" then hands over the papers to the teacher. The teacher adjusts his glasses before pointing to a seat gruffly. She looks at the table and hesitantly walks over, sitting down properly.
The class suddenly goes back to talking animatedly and she is already forgotten. She sighs and thinks that it's just like her old school. She turns herself to face-forward and is startled by the person sitting next to her. It was a boy, staring boredly into space, fiddling with the pencil in his hand.
She stutters a bit, but doesn't lose her determination. Voice strong, she introduces herself to her seatmate. "Annyeonghaseyou. I'm Kristy" She gives him a smile. Though he replies, his face does nothing in response, like a rock. "Sehun." He replies, nodding at her in greeting.
