I see a little girl

So happy and carefree

Full of joy and laughter

Not a fear

Not a care

So beautiful

So kind

Dark pigtails tied up bows

Sparkling brown eyes

And a mischievous grin

Rosy cheeks

Hands on tiny hips

She runs

She plays

But then something starts to fade

And before I know it

That little girl is gone

And I begin to wonder,

What has become of her?

What has become of this little girl?
And then I realize it,

She has become me.
