Prologue:
I can't hear people, or rather I can't hear normal people. It is as if normal people can't speak, but supernatural beings can. Every night, ever since I was around five years old, I stopped hearing people. However, I started hearing other things. Supernatural, mysterious things started coming to me. They reacted with complete surprise when I spoke back to them. I guess they've never heard a human speak to them outright before. Since I can't hear anything but them, I had to learn sign language took a long time, but it was worth it.
One day, I found a person like me. However, this person mysteriously disappeared. After a long time, I thought he was dead. But then, a few years later, he came back, but he could hear normal people now. It was as if he couldn't even remember me. I remembered him, though. I think we should be together, but it is as if he is trying to avoid me. Kinda like a book I read once. He didn't speak around me, almost as if he refused. I'm not sure if he remembered me or not, but I'll make him remember. I know I will. I am Lorena Wolfe, and this is the tale of me and my life.
Chapter One:
I'm 16 now. I learned how to read people's lips. So basically I know what they're saying. I go to a school with people who can hear. They all hate me because i'm deaf. Well, not exactly deaf. You know what i mean. I bumped into a white chick. She turned to me and said "Move Deafy." I flipped her off. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I laughed. Some people are just dicks. They are totally worth flipping off though. It's fun.
Anyways, I now go to a normal school. I went into my first period classroom, and what do you know; the guy who has ignored me all my life is there. And, as it turns out, I have to sit next to him. Go figure.
He smiled at me, which kinda made me wonder if there was anything wrong with him. Why would he smile at me after ignoring me for so many years? His smiled made me warm and fuzzy. Well, I guess I'll have to deal with it. I didn't hear the teacher come into the classroom, obviously, but I could tell by reading his lips that he said, "Good morning, class, I am Mr. Magnism, or Mr M, if that's too complicated for you. As you can already tell, I have assigned your seats, and these will be your permanant seats for the remainder of the semester. If you have any problems about the seating, come speak to me after class. For now, please speak to your partner and get to know each other." Well this sucks.
He turned to me and said "Hi, I'm Darrel. But you already know that, right?" I froze. I could hear him. I could actually hear him. "So you DO remember me," I said accusingly. He shrugged. "I don't quite remember, hmm maybe." He laughed with a smile, then said, "Yeah, I remember you. Lorena, right?" I smiled faintly, but I didn't want to. I just couldn't help it. The last time I saw him it was about 10 years ago. He's probably close to the same age as me... I dragged myself back to reality, then said, "Yeah, I'm Lorena, where have you been?" His smile faded at my question. "So you remember that, huh?" he said softly. "Of course I remember, you were the only person that I can hear and I was the only person you can hear," I said softly. Darrel shrugged again and said, "I guess one thing changed; I can hear other people now, and you still can't." My anger boiled up inside me. He had no right to rub it in my face that I still can't hear people. Well, normal people, anyways. But i can't keep myself from hating him.
"I missed you." It just blurted out. I couldn't stop myself from saying it. Tears started falling down. "Hey," he said softy. "I missed you too. I avoided you all theses years because i had to. You don't know anything about me anymore. Okay? So just forget it about it." Those words made my heart sink. Everything changed between us that day. I turned to him. "Why?" He had a confused expression on his face. "Why what?" I rolled my eyes. "Why did you leave all theses years?" Darrel shook his head. "It's my business, not yours." Why was he being so mean to her. "I just wanted to know gosh. What's your problem? Things were never like this before." He turned away from her.
"Okay students, you will be working with your partners today." I hated Science. We have to mix chemicals today. I sighed and turned to him. He met my eyes. There was no labels on the chemicals we got. So i just randomly poured. Then BOOM! All i remember was talking to Darrel and mixing some chemicals. I was blacked out still. "Hey, are you okay?" Darrel? Was it Darrel talking to me? I opened my eyes. I was in my room. It was the stupid beast that keeps coming to me. "Lorena," It whispered. "Follow me. I need to tell you a secret about your boyfriend." Boyfriend? Who was he talking about. "What boyfriend?" The mystical beast laughed. "Darrel of course." I got up from my bed and followed him.
Chapter 2:
I followed the mystical beast into a portal. I never knew it could make portals. Honestly. I made my way through the portal onto a surface of sand. We were on a beach. "What's the secret?" I asked. "Your boyfriend is lying to you." She shook her head. "He's not my boyfriend and what you mean Darrel is lying to me?" The beast jumped up on a table and hissed. "Your under a curse. He was under one too, i used to follow him when he was younger like you." I simply shook my head even more. "No. Darrel would never lie to me," I said, but to be honest, I wasn't sure if he would lie to me or not. The mystical beast looked like an Ancient dragon but the colors were a lot different. It was blue with purple stripes. Only special humans can see him, I guess, when he's around me no one can see him.
"Why do you keep on popping up and telling me if someone or something is trying to deceive me? Are you like my guardian or something?" I asked. He hissed. "I'm not your guardian but your dad was able to see and talk to me too. He told me to protect you from any danger. After he died, I felt so bad. So of course I went to you." I blushed. I didn't deserve this. "Alright then. Find out more about Darrel. Wait! Is he able to see you too?" The dragon laughed and said, "Of course not. I can only let certain humans see me. And he is not worthy enough. He has to earn my worthiness." I grinned. "Did he try and do something mischievous to you?" I asked oh-so-innocently. He growled softly and said, "I will only leave it at this; I will now forever hate creatures that are male." I laughed quietly as he shook with both humor and anger. Strange combination. "Aww, did a certain male mystical beast get tricked into doing something he didn't want to do?" I asked with a cough, trying to hide a loud laugh. He growled and said, "I am a female, young miss." I instantly stopped laughing, then started laughing again. "Well you sure as hell don't sound like one." After all theses years of her visiting me, I didn't know it was a she until now.
"So. How was your boyfriend huh?" I started cracking up again. He (umm, I mean "She"...)"After several years he broke up with me, okay? So proceeded to bite his head off. Do you get it now? This is why i hate males." I moved my head to the side in curiosity. "What did Darrel do to you?" I asked. She growled once again and said, "Never trust a young male creature with hydrogen peroxide," she said softly, then swished her tail, then I noticed a faint spot of platinum blonde fur. "Awwh my poor little dragon dyed her fur." I laughed. "Lorena, this is serious!." The mystical beast snapped at her. "We got off topic. Anyways your "friend" Darrel is lying to you." I stepped back after she snapped at me. "Okay i get that he's lying to me. I still don't understand why are you involved into this." She stepped forward towards me. "Because sweetie, your going to fall for him like you did before and your going to get hurt." What did she mean by before? "What are you talking about before?" She rolled her eyes. "Your past life. No duh." Now i'm interested in finding out my past life. "Great, more secret!" My sarcasm was so obvious.
"Okay about that, i meant your dad from your past life. Not your dad now. Even though he's dead, sorry about that." I shook my head. What the fuck? Too many secrets. I'm going to find out what the hell is Darrel keeping and what the hell happened to my dad. "Is my dad somewhere?" The dragon rolled her eyes. "No, hes let's just say out of this world." Liar liar! I kept saying in my head. "If your thinking i'm lying. Well believe whatever you want. But all i have to say is that i'm trying to help you." I walked along the beach talking to her for hours and hours. "So all the dreams i remember is my past life?" The dragon smiled. "Yes it is. I didn't know you know so much about dreams." I smiled back at her. "Well i guess i know things that i don't know. Can we go back out of this world and into Earth because this place is really getting to me." The dragon laughed. "Well this place, used to be your home before-" Her voice trailed off "Til stuff happened." She made a portal. "You know you can make this portal yourself. "Really? How?" I love being taught cool stuff, so i think this is pretty cool. "Hold out your hand, think of this wonderful place you saw, focus your energy, then POOF!" I smiled again. "What about Earth?" I asked. "Think of the place where you were born, focus your energy, and then POOF!" So i did what she did. Then POOF! It happened. I stepped through it and said good bye to the dragon. Then the portal! I can't believe i just did that. What such powers. Do i have more powers? It was about 9 o'clock. I went into my bed and fell asleep.
Chapter 3:
I loved using my new ability to make portals and go through them. I even used the portal to go to Italy once. I still wonder if i have more powers. Maybe that dragon knows. As soon as I thought this, I heard a faint growling noise protruding from my closet. I walked slowly to my closet knowing that the dragon was in there. I tapped lightly on the closet, then the dragon said, "Go away. I'm sleeping." What the hell? "You sleep in my closet? How come i never saw you before?" I was totally confused. "I kept myself somewhat invisible when you entered your closet, but now that you know about me, I have no need to keep myself hidden," she said with a loud yawn, revealing huge, super-white teeth. "Damn, it feels like your stalking me." She laughed. "Well, i have to protect you so we can say that I'm stalking you." i felt confused. "I have a question." She growled softly and yawned once again, saying, "What is it now?" I rolled my eyes. "Do i have any other powers? "The dragon-like creature laughed quietly and simply said, "Maybe." Her maybes are beginning to piss me off. "Omigod can you just give me a fucking straight answers. I'll totally appreciate it," I said sweetly-yet-sarcastically. "Damn! Can't you just let me sleep in silence." Okay i was totally ticked off.
"Get out. Get out of my closet and my house." I yelled at her, pointing sharply at the door, then hesitated and pointed at the window. Actually i had a second thought. I made a portal instead. "Go. Now." She growled and said, "Sorry, I can't do that, Miss." I once again felt confused. "Why the hell not?" I asked furiously. She flicked her tail at me and said, "Because I am your Guardian," She hissed. "What are you talking about? You lied to me," I pointed out. The dragon-like creature stood up and walked calmly out of my closet and sat down on my bed, making the bedsprings creak under her weight. "Calm down, Lorena." I walked to the bed and sat next to her. "Why the hell should I calm down when there's a dragon-creature-thing in my fucking room?" I asked. "Because, i already told you. I'm your Guardian. Dork." she added quietly. I threw a pillow at her, which she batted away.
"Bitch," I said, laughing as she jumped on top of my legs, crushing them under her weight. "I have to admit, you can be a bitch sometimes but I love you." I hesitated, then said, "Not that way, though." She made a laughing sound and said, "I know that, Miss." My mind was basically a huge question mark. "Why the hell do you keep calling me 'Miss'? It's not like I always call you 'Guardian' or 'Dragon' or any-fucking-thing like that," I pointed out. "I only call you 'Miss' because i respect you. Well kinda." We both laughed. "And you wonder why I call you 'Bitch' sometimes," I noted, still laughing. "Well are you gonna answer the question or not?" She had a confused expression on her face. "What question." She asked. "Do i have any other powers?" She made a loud yawn and said, "I said 'maybe', didn't I? Oh, fine, I'll tell you. Yes, you do have other abilities, but you have to find out what they are on your own." Ahh fuck my life. "Really? Seriously! Are you kidding me? How the hell am i suppose to find out that i even have special abilities. Blehhh! " I am totally frustrated at the moment but then got over it. "I'll give you a hint, it has to do with the elements and future but you have to find out the rest on your own." Yeee! I'm excited now. Then a sudden thought came to me. "Is there a certain place I could figure it out at?" I asked curiously. "You can go to Italy, but you went there so many times so you probably know where to go." The dragon said. "I'll go there later." The dragon grinned, and then said, "Good luck, Miss. You'll need it." Good luck? What the hell? "I'm going to see Darrel and see what his problem is."
Chapter 4:
When I went to school the following day, Darrel wasn't there. I think it is rather ironic, don't you think? However, this made me pissed off because it prolonged the response to my question. I seriously think Darrel is somehow doing this on purpose, but there was no way he could be doing this on purpose. Well, not unless he was watching me somehow which would be creepy. Wow.
The day after this, I walked into the classroom and no one was there. Well, no one but Darrel. I paused and was about to turn around and walk out the door when he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him. I felt my face flush red as he pulled me closer. "I've been waiting a long time for this," he whispered. He moved closer to me, I pushed him away and said, "What the hell, you been lying to me like forever and now your trying to kiss me. What the heck is your problem? You man-whore." He actually looked hurt at this. I almost felt bad for him. Almost. "I don't have a problem. I... I kind of like you," he said, his face turning bright pink. "Well I can't like you if your gonna lie to me." The words fell out of my mouth. "I'm sorry Darrel but you lie a lot. A girl can take so much, you know." I turned around. "Lorena, please don't walk away. I lied for a reason." Jeesh this sucks for me. "I don't want to listen to you anymore." This would be a great time to use powers. I thought of blocking him out of my mind and to stop listening to him. It worked. I turned towards him and he was talking but i couldn't hear him. I pointed towards my ears. "I can't hear you. I'm sorry Darrel. He froze. He sign language, "What are you talking about." I shrugged. "I can't hear you because I'm blocking you out." He sign language, "You can do that? How? Who taught you?" He asks to many questions. "Wanna know who taught me this stuff? The dragon you 'accidentally' used hydrogen peroxide on. She taught me so much and told me so much about you." His face went pale white. "So please be true with me. I'm like literally begging now. Please." Tears were falling down her face. He walked up to her and hugged her. She unblocked herself from him and he said "I promise." I raised an eyebrow, then groaned and gave in, hugging him back. "All these years i been waiting for you." He said. An almost silent thought ran through my head, and I couldn't help but say it. "I know," I whispered softly, "There's so much i have to tell you." He pulled me away a little and looked in my eyes. "Well, then tell me," he said softly, pulling me closer to him, our lips almost (but not quite) touching. I jerked away out of instinct, then instantly felt bad about it. I grabbed him and pulled him back to me, then he forced his lips upon me. It felt like the kiss went on for hours. But it was only a minute
"Well, what do you have to me?" He asked. "I'll show you later. Oh and you need to help me out. Please." My eye pleading for help. "Alright. With what though?" I smiled and said, "I guess I have more powers then one." He looked surprised. "Okay. What's that suppose to mean?" I sighed. "Umm, the dragon told me I might have more then one power. She told me to go to Italy. I already know where to go in Italy." He shook his head. "What the hell? You trust her? She's so fake. She has no idea what the hell she's talking about." He seemed pissed off. "Why are you so fucking pissed? I mean you shouldn't be mad over nothing. To be honest your a freaking mean bitch." I turned around and ran out the door. Shaking my head and knowing he was watching. Knowing how sad he was. I ran into a guy. "Whoa I'm sorry I didn't mean to run into you." He was on the ground. I held out my hand to help him up. He accepted the offer. "It's okay." I could hear him? Why can i hear this guy? I was surprised. "Okay, I'm confused. I feel like I know you. Do I?" He sighed. "Yeah you know me. I know you too." Me still being surprised I asked, "Why can I hear you? I can't hear normal people." He shook his head and said, "I'm not normal. I'm just like you."
"I'm so confused right now," I said, dusting myself off. He chuckled softly and said, "You always were fond of your clothes…" My mind was a huge question mark. "What the hell is that supposed to mean? What are you talking about?" I demanded of him. He looked down at the ground and then looked back up at me, his hazel eyes glinting with unsaid truth. "We were related. Once," he said quietly. "What do you mean we WERE related?" I asked him. "I'm sorry. I can't tell you. You have to find out yourself." He smiled. "Why do I have to find everything out for myself?" I whined. "You never know if you can look back into the past. That's my hint for you." He laughed. I growled softly to myself in frustration. Now I know I have to talk to the dragon again, I thought silently.
Chapter 5:
"Yes, you can look into the past," the dragon said, flicking her tail at me, "Did I forget to mention that?" I fumed with anger bubbling up inside me. "Yes, yes you did forget to mention that!" I yelled. I held up my hand and summoned a portal to Italy. Almost walking through I said, "Are you coming or what?" She yawned and leapt into the portal ahead of me and said, "Are YOU coming?" I rolled my eyes. "Bitch…"
Flash! I was in Italy. It looked different compared to the last time I had been here (yesterday), and I really mean different. The buildings looked newer, and the Statue of David wasn't in the center of Venice, either. I looked over at the dragon and said, "Did you take me back through time?" She laughed and said, "Yep." I rolled my eyes again. I saw a girl walking. She had black hair, like me, blue eyes like me, and I think she was even the same height. "I-Is that me?" I asked, stuttering with confusion and pointing like a fool at the girl. "Stop pointing, dumbass," the dragon hissed, slapping my hand down to my side. "Ow. Damn is there a problem with pointing?" I asked, smacking her paw. Hissing defensively, she said, "That girl is YOU, Lorena. You from the past," she said almost in a whisper. A jolt of utter shock ran through me. "Are you serious?" I asked softly, clamping my arm to my side with my other hand. "Yes," she said, swishing her tail back and forth. "Why do you always move round your tail like that?" I asked.
"Why won't you stay on topic? You get distracted easily." I rolled my eyes." Let me go up to her. I want to talk to her." The dragon hissed. "NO! You might change the future. I suggest you follow her around and see who you were." I moved my head to the side. "Is this going to be like a history lesson, but it's of my life?" The dragon nodded silently and quietly said, "Yes. Now go on and find out about your past life in Italy."
So of course I followed. She (as in me in my past life) was talking to someone. The guy I knocked down at school! We looked so much alike. Which then it came to me. HE WAS MY BROTHER! My brother from my past life. My soul brother. I couldn't hear them clearly but they were speaking in another language. Too complicated to even learn for me, anyways. However, as I listened closer, I realized that I could understand every word they said.
"How is it that I can understand Italian?" I asked the dragon in confusion. The dragon laughed. "That's funny because you're speaking it right now. Past lives have power." I stared at her for a moment, then said, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I was still confused. "If you want to talk to them then just disguise yourself as someone else and see. Meet her up close." "How am I supposed to do that?" I asked. The dragon flicked her tail at me and said, "Imagine yourself as someone from your present life. Whether it's a celebrity or a close friend (which I absolutely do not recommend), you can kinda shape-shift into any person you can possibly think of or you can make up a person, like choose the hair and color, eyes, and somewhat more I guess." I looked at her intently and said, "Does that mean I can change my appearance to fit any description you can think of?" The dragon nodded and said, "Yep. I think you can also change into animals, but I'm honestly not sure…"
So I thought of a blonde hair and brown eyes with tan skin. I ended up being hotter then I thought. "Whoa, that does not fit your personality at all. SO PERFECT!" The dragon said. I laughed softly and said, "That's a first." The dragon cocked her head to the side and said, "What do you mean?" I ruffled her fur and said, "You complemented me on my decision for once." The dragon laughed. "Well honey I complement you a lot you just don't know it because it's in my head."
"You confuse me a lot, you know that?" I replied with a grin. She nodded silently, swishing her tail back and forth. "Now, go on and meet your past self," she said in a motherly fashion. So I did.
Chapter 6:
I started to walk towards her. Til someone got in my way. "Hello miss can I interest you in a sample of our new delicacy, La Etoile? It is a very fine sweet, a very fine sweet indeed!" the man said, shoving a pan of pastries under my nose. I shook my head. "No thank you. I'm busy right now." I walked away. I turned to find that my past self wasn't there anymore. I sighed. I turned around and bumped into MY PAST SELF. "Oh sorry I didn't mean to bump into you." I said. She smiled sweetly and said, "Oh, it's quite alright, miss; it was my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going." I shook my head and said, "No, it's not okay…" She cocked her head to the side and said, "What do you mean?" "Never mind," I mumbled, walking hurriedly away and back to the Dragon.
Then she followed me. "Miss what do you mean? Seriously." I sighed. "It was nothing. Never mind okay." She stopped following me. "Alright, then, Miss…" she whispered as she turned around and walked back to my past brother.
I went to the dragon. "Can I just tell her I'm her in the future? Please it's that simple. She will give me information." The dragon looked annoyed. "Fine. You know it's not going to be my fault if you get hurt or anything, actually it will be. I'll come with you." I gave her a weird look as I walked back over to my past self.
"Can I tell you something but don't like change anything your going to do?" I asked. She smiled at me and said, "Of course! What is it?" I coughed. "Umm well I am you from ummm the future." I snapped my finger and turned into me. My black hair and blue eyes self. Her eyes were wide open, and her mouth dropped to the floor. Not literally, though. I could feel the confusion running through her head, and all of her memories became mine. "I am you," I whispered softly. Her eyes widened even more, and almost as soon as she opened her mouth to say something, I was pulled into darkness.
I awakened to a splash of ice-cold water being sloshed over my face. "What the hell was THAT?" I asked the dragon, who was looking over me with an empty bucket in one paw. "You stayed in that world far too long, Miss," She said, tossing a towel in my direction. "You were with me too. But then she was so confused. I have to go back to explain to her. PLEASE!" The dragon hissed. "NO! You may not. The longer you stay there the more you will loose memory. You get it? What's your mom's real name?" She asked. "Umm I don't know." The dragon shook her head. "See that's exactly what I meant." I shook my head. "Why do I loose my memory? That's just, just retarded!" I burst out, and I could feel my face flaming red. "I'm sorry, but I don't make the damned rules, Miss," the dragon said, a sympathetic look on her face. My anger built up still. My hands were burning. That's when I noticed that my hands were on fire. Well it didn't hurt it felt warm and fuzzy. "I forgot that you said 'maybe' about me having elemental affinities," I whispered, looking at my hands with shock and awe. "Well Miss, you now know that you have fire affinity." My anger went away. I smiled. "Sweeeeettt!" I said, snapping my fingers, a small flame lighting up my hand. "Hmm…" I suddenly had a fantastic idea. When the dragon looked away, I flung the handful of flames at her. However, somehow they extinguished right before they hit her fur. "I know what you were trying to do." The dragon said. "Don't ever try to do that again." I rolled my eyes.
Chapter 7:
The alarm in my room went off. "BEEP BEEP!" I took the alarm and threw it at the wall. "Why must you set that alarm clock every day?" the dragon groaned, yawning in my closet. "Well, sorry, but it's definitely not my fault I have to go to school," I replied. "Then go, already!" the dragon hissed in utter annoyance. I got dressed and got in my car and drove off. I still can't stop thinking about my affinity.
As I walked into the classroom, every single slut and ho was flirting with my boyfriend. Well, my almost boyfriend, I guess. I mean, he did try to kiss me… "Move the hell out of the way," one of them mouthed at me, her vibrantly painted nails placed on her hips. "You can go suck it, okay whore? This is my seat so back the fuck off." She rolled her eyes and said, "I thought you couldn't hear people or is that an act?" I stood from my desk and said, "I can read lips and I could see everything you guys are saying so get the fuck away, go to your seat, and sit your ass down." I laughed. "Hey Tania, how about you just walk away instead of talking back to her."
The voice was Darrell. Why did I not see this coming? He got up and moved towards me. He pulled me near him and our lips met. I have to admit, it felt right. I smiled and said, "Yeah he's taken so back the fuck off. SLUT!" Tania glared at me and said, "Ho." I laughed and said, "Says the slut.." She smiled sweetly and said, "Says the girl who kissed her boyfriend in the middle of class." I rolled my eyes. "At least I can get a boyfriend without wearing all that makeup. Honey please I can wipe off 85% of your so called 'beauty' with Kleenex." Well, that wiped the grin off her face real quick, didn't it? She turned around and walked to her desk. "Hey," he said pulling me near him and giving me a hug and kissing my head. I felt myself blush bright red as the teacher walked in.
"Everyone take your seat," the teacher said. Darrell tugged on my hand and walked me to my seat, where we sat together. Darrel grinned, his hazel eyes glinting with humor. I could barely keep myself from laughing out loud at Tania's face throughout class. Darrel kept on mimicking her facial expressions through the entire period, and I had to cover my mouth to keep from bursting with laughter.
The period was over in a second. We both got up and moved towards the door. "Hey," I said. "Umm I want to show you something. Follow me." So he did as I said and followed me. We ended up in a room alone. "Have you ever thought of skipping school before?" He shrugged. "I would love to get out of this place." I smiled. "Good 'cause we are."
I snapped my fingers then a portal formed. He mouth dropped in surprised. I took his hand and pulled him into the portal. "How did you learn how to do this?" I laughed. "I got skills." The portal led to Italy. "We are in Italy." He smiled. "Figured that out by the buildings of course." He pulled me near him and hugged me. He kissed my forehead and said, "Where have you been all my life?" I sighed. "Where were you? I been here the whole time. You're the one who went away. It's not my fault." He stopped hugging me and said, "Look babe, you wouldn't understand if I told you. So let's just keep it at that, yes?" I don't know why, but I nodded in response. But inside, I was screaming. I was going to find out what the hell he was hiding from me, even if it killed me. "So, can you make portals like me?" I just wanted to know if he could or not. He shook his head. "Nah. Trust me, we all have different powers."
Poof! The dragon appeared. "Hello Lorena and Darrell. Great to see you again." She smiled at Darrell. "Ahh still got that blonde spot ey?" I laughed. I couldn't help but know it was funny that he did that to her. "Hey! It's not funny," The dragon hissed. "Couldn't help it. You never told me your name, Dragon what's up with that?" Yeah to be honest she never told me her name, which I kind of wanted to know. "Her name is Serena," Darrel said. "Why didn't you tell me your name before," I asked Serena. "Well I don't like my name." I shrugged. "Well it doesn't go with you at all because you're like all mean and shit." Darrell laughed. "Oh well get over it." The dragon rolled her eyes.
"Hey Lorena, can I talk to you for a minute?" I started to walk towards Serena, Darrell followed. "Alone Darrell," The Serena said to him. Darrell backed up and said, "Fine."
"So, Darrell still keeping secrets?" I sighed loudly. "Yeah. He won't tell me why he left." Serena shook her head. "Well secrets are secrets. They could never be told." I rolled my eyes. "Well secrets are secrets and they won't EVER be told."
Chapter 8: Secrets Untold
"So what do I do about Darrell?" Serena shrugged. "I don't know. All I know is that you're going to find out of course." I smiled because she knew that I was going to find out if it kills me. I looked over at Darrell. He smiled and looked very inpatient. I smiled back and him. He responded by looking at his watch. I sighed. "Can you hurry up with this conversation? He's like very impatient right now." I crossed my arms and gave her an attitude. "Okay, jeesh you're rushing me. Anyways you're going to find out. If you like it or not." I was so confused… "What, why won't you just find out yourself," I asked. "Because we all know you want to know. But do you want your hearing back or what?" I sighed loudly. "Of course I do." Serena grinned. "Then you're going to find out."
I walked back to Darrell. "What took you so long," He asked. "Oh just talking about personal problem, if you know what I mean." I looked around in Italy. "So how you think of Italy so far," I asked. "I had been here so many times, Lorena," he replied. Oops. I had forgotten that little tidbit. "I'm sorry, I forgot," I said sheepishly. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and said, "It's alright. There's lots you have to learn." I instantly froze. "What the hell is that supposed to mean, Darrel?" I demanded. He held his hands up in a surrender, but his eyes glinted whenever he lied, and his eyes glinted like fucking glitter. "I only meant that me and Serena have a lot to teach you," he said. I smiled a super-fake smile and wrapped my arm around his waist. But inside, I was screaming my ass off at him. His eyes had never glinted that much before, which means this is a big-ass lie that he made up. I grinned. And I knew exactly how to figure it out.
"I don't fucking know; I'm not a mind-reader!" Serena yelled at me. I winced. Serena must be serious because she never yells this much, even when I purposely make her pissed off. "Eesh, calm your tits, I just wanted a question answered," I replied, plopping down on my bed and burying my head under my pillows. This whole thing was giving me a huge fucking headache. "Is there any magical way to rid someone of headaches?" I asked. Serena hissed like a pissed off cat and said, "No. However, at the moment, I wish there was…" I groaned and buried my head even deeper into the pile of pillows atop my bed. "So, then you have no idea what Darrel's lying about?" I asked again, my voice muffled by the pillows. "For the last time, I say NO, I do not know what he's lying about," she replied with a loud yawn. I rolled my eyes. "I hate people keeping stuff from me." I was so stressed out from this I swear.
I buried my face into my pillow. I swore I was going to cry soon. "Lorena are you okay?" I rolled over on my back and said, "Does it look like I'm okay?" I knew tears were rolling down my face. "You don't got to cry about this. Seriously it's not a big deal." I snapped at her. "It is a BIG deal. Don't you get it? He's hiding things from me. Hiding thing from your girlfriend is huge!" I sighed. "Lorena, FIND OUT!" I looked at Serena and grinned. She was right. I do need to find out.
Chapter 9:
I woke up annoyed of the alarm. I threw a pillow at Serena, who was too lazy to even move from the closet. "Wake up dummy!" Serena head went up and hissed at me. "No." I smiled. "Well you're up now." Laughing I went and got changed. "So whatcha gonna do today," Serena asked. "Going to find out more things about Daryl and I. Why? Want to tag along?" Smiling I slipped my shirt over. "Nah. I'll let you go on your own. Just don't go back to the past."
