Just a dream

I wake into this world

a fragile innocent life form

waken by the screams and

howls of pain

violent and timid voices

scream out

trying to escape this prison

This is my life

the smell of blood and filth

fill my nostrils making

me gag

I wish I could see the world

to know the color of the sky

to feel the breeze whisper

through the trees

But it is just a dream

that is out of my reach

the sounds filling my ears

breaks my heart

will this hell ever end

I ask quietly

as I lay upon the cold

ground

Closing my eyes

I imagine a better place

that will never come
