Chapter 6

Anna

Charlie Play list

Anna hadn't stopped the diner, as she normally would. She didn't even stop to see if Iandrew was working. She just wanted to get home for once since her first day of school. She had a bunch of songs she wanted added to her play list. Jamie had been right, she usually hated when people were right, especially when it came to her feelings. Her old friend Allie had figured it out after the school dance, back before she moved and came to Bradston, and before she broke up with Charlie because of it.

"Grams, I'm home," she announced as she shut the front door behind her. She wasn't really sure if her grandmother was home yet, because she had mentioned she was going into town earlier that day before Anna had left for school. After a moment, she had figured her grandmother was still gone, and headed towards her bedroom.

As she placed her notebook on top of her history book, and then turned on her laptop to first check her e-mail, as she waited for laptop to load she clicked on her iPod and searched for her Adele album. Finally when it was all loaded she first checked her e-mail. That's when everything had turned around for her. Night had become a nightmare.

Anna, I don't know how to say this. Really I don't. I'm being deployed shortly. I'm not going to say where, because I don't want you to worry, more than what you already will when you read this. Yes, I do miss you A LOT. I miss how it used to be back when you were here. Sadly beyond that I may or may not be headed to a young military death, Charlie committed suicide. No one knows why. He left no note. Nothing. Please, Anna, if you could make it to his funeral this Sunday. Noon.

She didn't know what to think. Suddenly she didn't care about studying. One way or another she was going to make it Charlie's death. She hated how she had found out about it in e-mail. I horrible one, one that sounded like a horrible breakup letter than anything else. She hated how she went from having a good day to just wanted to cry.

She had to distract herself, and started a Charlie Play list. It's not what she wanted but it's what she got. Sunday she was going to be there, even if she had to bring Iandrew with her. She even checked his facebook. Finally she broke down and let herself cry.

I'm exchanging with another student during our next class. I don't really know who it is since Mr. Merle is actually exchanging them for us because, he's afraid we have the answers to a test we're having. Anyway here is my assignment.

Today when I got home everything changed. Kody, my closest guy friend since I was five, was leaving to be deployed Over Seas. He won't even say if it is Iraq or Afghanistan he's headed to. Or if it's even anywhere near those two places. Also Charlie, my ex boyfriend, had committed suicide. No one knows how or why. I guess, what I'm getting at is I lied last week when we talked. I guess it I'm not over you.

I would like to start an organization at school, but I'm not sure I would know how to run it or what to do. My best advice is talk to someone close. If you love someone let them know. Ok yeah, my advice sucks. But so isn't losing someone you used to know.

Anna couldn't write anymore. She was ready for school tomorrow. She heard her grandparents pull into the yard, but she wasn't going to tell them. Why would she have to? They didn't know Charlie, as she did. He was her ex-boyfriend. She had to listen and create something. What could have made him stoop so low? At the end of the year he would have graduated and went to Colorado State.

The following morning Anna was ready to head to school and seem like nothing is wrong. She even brought her iPod with her. Her cd player in her car played Cadillac Black, as she waited. Then she headed towards her locker.

"Hey how's it going?" a familiar soothing voice asked. Secretly she smiled just quickly though. He noticed a strand of hair hanging loose and tucked it behind her ear.

"Alright I guess," she told him. Blue hair this week. Iandrew changed his hair again.

"Bullshit, your always fixated with your hair," he exclaimed. Then he looked from her locker, pretending that he had lost interest for a few moments. "Something is wrong. I know it is, if you don't want to tell me, honestly, that's fine, but I'm a friend, and I have been nothing but that since you moved here," he told her just a little bit coldly, and then tried to give her a hug, but she backed away. He then walked away and headed for class.

As Anna walked to class, she pulled out her notebook, and accidentally slammed into Leo, who also headed to class as well.

"Hey you're the girl, Anna, right?" he asked as he collected the books he had dropped.

"Yeah," she answered quietly.

"I got your notebook last class, and didn't know what to think. Good stuff, I guess. I mean, it's a start. If I get your notebook again this week, I'm going to read your entry again. I don't want to seem creepy and stalkerish though," he told her, as he gave her back her notebook that she had forgotten she had dropped.

"It's all cool, I guess we better get inside, and take that test huh?" he asked as he was about to continue to class.

"Yeah, I guess we better, I mean, I wouldn't want to miss an awesome test," she told him sarcastically as they both headed to the English classroom.

He laughed a little bit. His Stewie t-shirt hung a little bit loose as they walked close together but not enough that his girlfriend would be jealous of they were only friends. Or really close classmates. She knew that he had a girlfriend, in which he was trying to work his issues out with, she only knew that because she had seem in the hallway, besides, it was Iandrew she had wanted.

"After class, I think, I may need your help with something," she told him as they walked in the classroom and placed their notebooks on Mr. Merle's desk for proof that he had them and so he could randomly hand them out at the end of class.

"Yeah, sure that wouldn't be a problem," Leo answered. She had a secret smile for him.

"Alright class, take your seats. Hand the notebooks in if you haven't done so. Also I hope that you left your text books in your lockers, if not, I am sorry to say rather than staying and watching whatever was on TV last night you should have studied, because it is not an open book. Also no cell phones either. Now come and collect your tests, take your seat and begin," Mr. Merle announced as the bell had wrung and class began. He knew that about six percent of the class would fail this, but not because they wanted to, but because he knew it was their option.

"You have fifteen minutes," announced Mr. Merle as he saw the class began. At the end of class, with the help of a test and Leo Anna would have both play lists at least started.
