I brushed my hair back. The tests had just been yesterday and I was already frustrated by this. Alex hadn't shown up for school and Axel was still in the hospital and not a word was sent back so I had no clue if he was okay or not.
Yes I worried about them. They are my pack! I rolled my pencil around my desk. It was the last period of the day and then we were out. I could last that long. School was agonizingly slow, so I plugged my headphones in and blared Three Days Grace songs till the end of class. I guess it was slow because I wasn't purposely trying to hit baseballs into Mrs. Tourane's classroom, she's our English lit teacher nor was I purposely, with the help of Axel, trying to trip the idiot Trey.
I got up when the bell rang and decided to skip on finding Morgan or the idiot beta of ours. Personally I was glad Morgan was the Alpha, I was a little surprised Alex agreed that Morgan was fit to be the alpha to begin with. I went back to Alex's house and knocked on the door.
"My legs are not broken Alex I can answer the dang door!" I heard Axel's voice and then a loud crash, "Ohhhh moms gonna kill you!" Alex's voice came out as a mock. Soon enough she opened the door. "Jake!" she hugged me, I hated it when she did that.
"Remember the ski trip?" I asked "one more week. Been counting up to it!" Alex chimed happily. Every year the school gave us students a break. Last year we visited the museum. Yawn! This year it's a ski trip. "Great. So how's the leg broken bro doing?" I asked. "Please tell me you died of boredom too!?" Axel said, "Ha nope Andrew! I died from Mrs. Tourane's research project. What's with teachers?" I asked. "What's it on?" Alex asked. "A book of our choice-" I began, but Axel interrupted "Oh not that bad." "Lemme finish. A book of our choice. From a list of 16 poems by POETS!" I said earning two irritated groans.
"Doing mine on EAP!" I laughed, "EAP?" Alex questioned, "Edgar Allen Poe" I said and sighed. "Well that's a smart idea. Anyway can we go prowling!? Please!" Axel said, "No you're too injured." Alex said, "Actually ya lets go." I said grinning, I loved to get out and be a wolf. It was almost like I was born for it.
In the end we were outside together. We were only missing Morgan and Trey, but we didn't need them. I closed my eyes and smiled. In my mind I was roaming, free, as a wolf. My dark brown pelt gleamed as I ran tracking the scents of rabbits and deer and other wolf packs. I was born for this, nothing else. In my mind I saw the dirt shade of my pelt, the gleam in my eyes as I hunted, the darkness the trees cast over me, and the prey I would soon kill.
I opened my eyes and gazed at my friends. My pack. We only needed each other. We were all wolves, all one. I couldn't help goofing off a little, so I tackled Alex and we were rolling around. Axel gave some yips and barking before Dew and Milk joined in chasing each other in circles and then they all ganged up on me and tackled me. I gazed at the sky panting and shook them off getting up. Milk was sitting on my back and giving playful yips. Alex pulled her off and I noticed we were being watched, I snarled, no notice sadly, and then saw Morgan and Trey step out as humans.
I glared and lay down yawing. "Really!? Leaving us out, I'm hurt, I thought we were a pack." Morgan joked. Alex growled, but Dew and Milk ran over to them and ran in circles around them barking ad yipping.
I watched as Morgan and Trey shifted and mostly just stared at Morgan. She was beautiful; the gleam of her blonde fur was amazing. Almost as if on cue Trey circled her stepping in front of her and growled and then nudging her and guiding her as if she were a pup. I glared and got up.
Omega or not I wasn't taking this. I was hunting, I started too bound off, but Trey tackled me snarling. I saw the look he gave me. I wasn't allowed to hunt.
I knocked him away and followed behind the group. They all ran ahead.
The next day I woke up in the orphanage. I got changed and left my room. Miss. Crystal was doing her paperwork again. She was technically my adopted mother. She raised me and worked at the orphanage. "Going to school." I said, "Oh Jake your up. Have fun; please try to stay from trouble. No more ISS please." Miss. Crystal said, "Alright." I whispered and put a hand to the gold locket I had since I was abandoned here. I left and went to school.
I walked to school alone, like usual. I went through my first period, history. By third it was getting better. Third period was gym I had it with Axel. We went outside like usual and I grabbed the abt. Smiling, Axel threw the baseball and once again I purposely hit it through Mrs. Tourane's classroom window. I went to retrieve it.
I was smiling asleep, in my dream Jake was holding me and we kissed. His arms around me, holding me closely. I smiled and gazed at him, "Jake your amazing!" I said. "Ms. Haris! Perhaps you will delight us in waking up and explain what the twitching is all about!" Mrs. Tourane's voice jolted me from my dream.
"Nothing mam!" I said jumping up. I heard something and quickly ducked a baseball shot past smashing in to the wall and creating a dent. "So guess that was a homeroom?" Jake asked opening the window and climbed into the room. He walked over and grabbed the ball. "Mr. Hemming, perhaps you'd like to explain why you hit a baseball into my class room!?" Mrs. Tourane snapped, "Gladly. You see the velocity was increasing in the distance so I figured hit it hard enough and in the right spots it'll kill somebody. So I wait and practice." Jake said, "Mr. Hemming, you are to report for two days ISS!" Mrs. Tourane snapped. Axel then threw a basketball into the room, "I get ISS too?" he asked climbing into the room.
