The princess rarely gets this kind of rescue, but it doesn't exactly end badly for her nor her 'prince'.

AN: A lovely twist on the classic princess-castle-dragon-knight tale.
F/F eventually, and implied nudity...you've been warned? I think, I'm pretty high on caffine right now and I'm fairly certian my keyboard is talking to me...before it bites me I'll...ahhh, god bless it! You damned keyboard, I'll kill you...(scoffling as the keyboard gets the upperhand)...
Remember all those stories about valiant knights coming to the rescue of the princess in the tower? I certainly do, mostly because I am a princess in a tower with a moat…and a fifty foot long fire-breathing dragon. Well I was…
It was a day like any other; wake up, eat breakfast (supplied by dragon, nice fellow actually), stare out window until supper, eat supper (again dragon catering), and finally go to bed after one last hour of staring out the window. Truthfully I never got to the sleeping part as that's where my knight comes in.
A dusk assault goes against the stories but shows that the knight prefers strategy (dragons are their weakest at dusk and dawn). This I rather liked, having a knight with brains over foolish valor means he'll be with me longer.
Seeing the approaching armor glinting in the setting sun was an incredibly welcome sight, of course I held some reservations about him because of the other knights that had come and been defeated by my scaled guardian. In fact I was rather nervous about their battle; I liked the dragon, but really wanted to leave with a handsome, brave, valiant…well you get the idea.
However a rather strange occurrence…occurred; the knight removed his armor and donned a dark grey cloak. He then proceeded to move very slowly toward the fortress, the dragon seemed to be unaware of his approach. Disappearing only briefly behind the wall, he reappeared on top of it, the fire-breather was still oblivious. Creeping along the wall he maneuvered around the keep as to be on the opposite side away from the dragon.
Racing to the other window in my tower I caught him descending the wall and then slowly approach the tower. I heard nothing from the dragon as I watched him scale the wall with his bare hands. Mounting the top of the keep's wall he stopped to listen for even the slightest sound from the oversized lizard. Upon confirming that he was still unaware of the knight's assault, said knight began scaling my tower.
Looking straight down the hundred foot drop I could barely see the grey blob in the near darkness. As the light completely faded I tried in vain the find the figure, but to no avail. I simply stared into the darkness until a hand placed itself on the ledge of my window. As I stepped back the figure leapt up and landed in a crouched position in the emptiness of the window.
With only a few candles in the room I could just make out the knight's light green eyes staring at me. He gently stepped down not making even a whisper; it's no wonder the dragon didn't detect him.
Now we get to the part where I'm severely disappointed…
The knight stood before me and removed the cloak covering his face and as it dropped…My heart sank in pure displeasure,
"You're a girl."
AN: This chapter is just a taste to see if anyone is interested. Please, tell me what you thought.
Oh, and I defeated my keyboard...after it fell asleep the second time.
