Glasses: Who's he?

"Hey J, nice glasses!" Katie snickered as she patted my back.

"I don't want to hear it." I rolled my eyes in irritation as I placed my things on my chair rather grumpily.

"Oh, is it hate at first sight?" She asked jokingly. "Come on! Don't be such a kill joy!"

"Yeah, it kinda looks good on you anyway." Wane, my other 'best friend' commented before taking the seat beside me.

"You really think so?" I asked hopefully. At least someone complimented me!

"No." He grinned evilly, making me pout in disappointment.

"Nice," I glared at both of them. "What a nice way to start my day!" I muttered sarcastically.

"Yow Jaye- WOAH! Glasses!" A dark complexioned guy made way to our group with a smirk on his face. "Is it nerd month already?" He placed his bag at the seat next to Wane.

"Great, Nick! Join the 'make-Jaye-feel-bad-about-her-glasses' club! Tsk." I narrowed my eyes on Nick.

"Jeez, take it easy! I'm just messing with you!" He laughed as Nick ruffled my hair.

"Hey stop it!" I grumbled as I slapped his hand away. "You know I don't like it when somebody messes up my hair.."

"That makes it more fun!" Nick laughed out loud. I was about to kill him when Katie called out our attention.

"Hey guys," She glared at both me and Nick. "Aren't Jaye's specks looks familiar…?"

We all just stared at her with blank expressions.

"I mean, seriously. It's like I've seen those pair of glasses before.." She then started to look carefully at my face, studying it like an open book. Everyone followed Katie's example.

"H-hey guys! Stop it!" I tried covering up my face with my shoulder length light brown hair. "It's uncomfortable…" I muttered as I squirmed in my seat.

"….Yeah… Katie's right.." Wane said finally before nodding to Katie. "I've seen those on someone else before, too. I just can't remember who it-"

"I think I know!" Nick raised his hand like a 'proper' student. "The guy you're talking about is from the star section. He's no other than Ivan Nichols." He smirked with pride.

"Oh, that's right, him!" Katie smiled at Nick.

"Who's this Nichols guy?" I asked, stopping the three from their chatting sessions.

"You don't know him?" Nick asked in disbelief. I just shrugged helplessly.

"Seriously," Wane butted in. "You're already a third year in high school and you still don't know your batchmates?" He half laughed.

"Should I?" I asked defiantly. "It's not like it's necessary!"

"Uh, yes it is, especially the star section. You should know the fifty smartest students of our year level!" Katie pointed out. "Forget about the other classes, at least know the star section!"

"They don't mean anything to me." I explained. "Besides, why will I care about those stuck up jerks?"

Seeing the three's death glares, I just shrugged. "What? It's not like I have friends or lovers or anything in that class! I mean, it's just my opinion."

"Okay," Katie sighed. "Here's the thing: not all of them are arrogant. But I heard Ivan is." She paused dramatically.

"Yeah, he's good looking, smart, athletic and fun. But other students are telling me that he's pretty arrogant about getting into the star section. Plus, he's a playboy." She stopped upon seeing my lightened face. "Hey, Jaye, you alright?"

The name Ivan. Arrogant attitude. Good looks. Play boy.

"OH FUDGE! I know him!" I shouted out loud enough for the whole class to hear. "He tried hooking up with me last year…. Last year he's.. he's not in the star section, right?" I asked in a hushed voice.

They all nodded.

"I remember now! I hated him last year! He's my former classmate and he tried getting close to me in a way that he's already hooking me up. Then his past crushes and ex told me everything about him, making me angry at Ivan for doing the same to me. So I vowed to never EVER get close to that bastard."

"So.. how come you just remembered him now?" Wane asked sceptically.

"It's because along with that vow, I also told myself to forget him, since he's just a big pain that I don't care about. He's been bugging me for a 'chance' with me this summer. But I just ignored him. Forgot him ever since." I breathed out.

"So.. you do know him?" Wane asked with confusion. I nodded.

"Well then, just the same, we want you to take precaution, Jaye." Katie told me. "Watch out for him. I'm not saying that you don't befriend him or anything-"

"I don't plan to get close to him! Much more fall for him!" I defended myself. "Never ever! I promise to not fall in love with that guy!" I stood up with a determined look on my face. "I, Jaye Gomez, will never EVER fall for Ivan Nichols! I promise that!" I looked at Katie. "And when I promise, I won't break it."

"Uh, dude?" Nick called out to me with a hushed voice. "Hate to rain on your speech but, Sir's coming! Sit down!"

I instinctively looked at the door, and sure enough, our teacher's looking at me like I was a real freak show, so I followed Nick's advice.

Never fall for Ivan.

Never fall for Ivan.

Never fall for Ivan.

Never fall for Ivan.

Never fall for Ivan.

Never fall for Ivan.

Yep. Never fall for that arrogant jerk.
