The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

As I ran around the corner from school, I caught a glimpse of your red hair, which seemed to sparkle under the sun. A nostalgic rose within me, as I remembered the boy Chiaki whom I became great friends with a few years ago. The regret I felt when he left, when I didn't listen to him, and left his words hanging. His world, what he knew, and this is what made me realize what my dream was. Because of him, I discovered who I am, and what I needed to do.

"I'll be waiting in the future" Chiaki's sullen whispers reappearing in my head.

My tears blurred my vision, but without hesitation I nodded and replied with determination "I'll run to you"

Once I blinked and my sight became free of tears, you leapt.

The warmth of your hands that gently held my neck and your lukewarm whispers, continued to linger against my skin. After that, I cried as if time truly did wait for me.

As I blinked again, I felt the wetness on my cheeks and after a few moments I roughly used my shirt to dry off the tears. I looked up at the blue and vast sky, and thought about how all those memories felt like it only happened yesterday. The feelings Chiaki expressed on that day, changed my life, and this change lasted longer than time itself.
