Chapter 1: Demi Academy

Hidden in this world is a school unlike any other, where the blood of man and monster have crossed to create beings known as 'Demies'. Demies, in short, are the offspring of humans who have mated with the foul beasts humans call demons. These offspring are located and brought to this school, which is amply named Demi Academy, where they are to be taught in a world that will accept them, for you see, many humans and demons alike disapprove and even despise Demies. Although humans will simply shun Demies, demons have been known to kill all those who bear human and demon blood. The academy is well hidden, but suffers many demon attacks, which has brought about the creation of the Guardna, a group of gifted students who protect the academy with their lives. Let us now delve into the world, the world, of Demi Academy.

"Hurry up Eli! We can't be late on the first day!" Yelled an energetic girl with beautiful golden hair. As she waited, a very tall, very lanky, very pale red headed boy of the same age ran up to her.

"S-sorry Elizabeth, I dropped my books." Replied Eli, slightly trembling.

Elizabeth smiled, "Don't worry about it, and I told you a million times to call me Liz."

"Right, s-sorry." Eli replied, still trembling.

Liz rolled her eyes at Eli's apology and grabbed his arm. "Come on, we gotta go!" Dragging her friend, Liz and Eli made their way to their first class. As the two entered the room the class looked at them both, Liz with a big smile, and Eli trembling as usual.

"You're here, I was afraid you two would be late, and on your first day." Said their teacher, a rather meekly built man with dark brown hair and glasses. "Students, these are your new class mates, Elizabeth Manson and Eli Zeal. I am Mr. Veronis, please, take any open seat." Said Mr. Veronis with a wave of his hand.

Eli and Liz took their seats next to each other and took out their books. Liz could already see people waving to her and mouthing 'hello', which she gladly returned. However, Eli noticed that a majority of the people looking at him appeared to be slightly disturbed, obviously by his freakish height and pale skin. Liz saw these looks too and touched Eli's shoulder.

"Don't let it get to you." She said with a heartwarming smile, with Eli's only reaction being to pull up his already very high shirt collar.

The rest of the class went on rather uneventfully, the lesson being about complicated math equations, which the two found rather easy. The bell rang, telling every student to move to the next class, Liz and Eli leaving together. As they made their way to their next class Liz noticed Eli falling behind once again and stopped to wait. However, as Eli walked toward her, Liz watched as a boy from their first class pass by and knock Eli's books from his hands. Some of the passing students laughed at him while others looked at him with pathetic pity. He then collected his books and continued to walk, his eyes firmly glued to the floor. He only looked up when he saw Liz's feet in front of him.

"Sorry Liz, I dropped my books again." Said Eli, his naturally sad look on his face as he continued to tremble. Liz looked at him, sad that he was lying to her, but she grabbed his arm yet again and continued to their next class.

The rest of the day continued uneventfully, with each class reacting the same, welcoming Liz and scorning Eli. Eli simply ignored them, that being his only way of dealing with the situation. Liz continued to feel sad for Eli, being that she could not stop the student's unkind treatment of him.

At the end of the day the two parted ways to head to their dorms.

"B-bye Liz." Eli said to his friend, his hands held close to his chest as he trembled.

"Yeah, see ya Eli." She replied, sadness in her voice.

"Is something wrong?" Eli asked.

Liz quickly regained her composure and smile brightly, "Nah, I'm fine. Anyway, goodnight Eli."

"Go-goodnight." He replied, walking away to his dorm.

As Eli lay in his bed, he couldn't help but think of what was bothering Liz. He soon came to the conclusion that she knew how the other students were treating him; Liz was kind, not oblivious, he knew he couldn't keep it hidden from her; she had known him too long. Eli felt horrible for lying to Liz, but the last thing he wanted was for her to worry about him, he cared about her too much to have her worrying about him, he just cared too much. Eli blushed as he tried to force his feeling towards her out of his mind.

Meanwhile, Liz was contemplating the same thing. She knew Eli had realized that she was worrying about him, but how could she not? She had known him for years; they had always been together, always dealing with their problems together, always sharing laughs, smiles, and their days together. Liz's face turned bright red as her feelings for Eli began to resurface, she shook her head at these thoughts and tried to sleep, hoping tomorrow would be better.

Well, here it is, my first chapter. Remember, praise and advice are welcome, and please keep flames to a minimum. This is ReaperKing, peace out.
