"Dear Jesus, please bless everyone and help them to finally get to know You. And please help President Stone to take back the atheist law. Amen." I finished my prayer and climbed into bed. Ruth, my kitten, jumped up on my pillow and purred, settling in over my head.

I sighed, thinking about all of the people out there who didn't know, (and were forbidden to know,) their Father. In World History class at Lava High School, we'd learned that by about 2015 A.D., the continents had shifted back into one large landmass. War broke out between populations. At last President Stone took over, and the fighting stopped. That's because President Stone was an atheist, and he passed a law decreeing that everyone on earth had to become an atheist, too, or they would be sent to concentration camps like in the Holocaust almost six-hundred years ago.

Now, the year was 2115 A.D. It was actually December 12, 2115. School had been let out for Christmas Break, (actually the holiday had been changed to Santa Claus Day,) just this afternoon. I still called it Christmas, I still celebrated Jesus' birth, but I would be the one punished if word got out. Not even my family celebrated the original reason for the holiday, though we still exchanged gifts, leaving them wrapped in the stockings.

Tomorrow, Mom was taking Darin, Charlie, and I out shopping to pick out what we wanted for "Santa Claus Day," (a.k.a. CHRISTMAS.) I knew exactly what I wanted, but I doubted any of the stores would carry one. The only way you could get your hands on one of those was by trading for one on the Black Market, which was obviously illegal. I just had to think of a plan to get my hands on one of them. I sighed and went to sleep.
