Do you know the Muffin Man?
The Muffin Man, the Muffin Man!
Oh do you know the Muffin Man
Who lives on Drury Lane?
Oh yes, I do know the Muffin Man. He was a lovely old fella. I worked for him in the bakery for a while. He always gave me bread to take home for free at the end of the day.
Occasionally he would even slip in a small cake or two.
He was a wonderful old man, almost like a grandfather to me. He was known all across town for his amazing cakes and his large grandfather clock that stood in the front end of the shop.
The clock never worked yet the Muffin Man always said it brought life to the place. I told him he was speaking nonsense – a dead clock bring life? It was the Muffin Man who was the life and soul of the shop. When he died I looked to the clock through my tears. It was ticking away as if it always worked.
