If I had a time machine
I would go way back
Not to change history
Or witness some big event
But to watch from the sidelines
Our entire history
Right up to the end
Because it was all magical and it was all special
And I want to relive it—
Even the end

The picnics at the park, our contest on the swings
Helping those kids with their lost dog
All of it was special all of it was true
All of it was magic—
Because all of it happened with you

We went to the carnival on a windy summer day
Tilit-a-whirl, bumper cars, cotten candy, house of tricks
The lemonade with condensation that dripped
"Let's go on the ferris wheel,"
The words I'd dreaded all night
I was terribly afraid of heights
But you promised to hold my hand extra tight—
It was such an amazing night

The picnics at the park, our contest on the swings
Helping those kids with their lost dog
All of it was special all of it was true
All of it was magic—
Because all of it happened with you

I guess I fell extra hard and maybe a little too fast
Because now when I look
You're just a figure in the past
Maybe you were just being nice,
Maybe you thought I would catch on
For you to let it go on for so long. . .

The picnics at the park, our contest on the swings
Helping those kids with their lost dog
All of it was special all of it was true
All of it was magic—
Because all of it happened with you

All the pictures I made sure I took
Sit with dust in a picture book
But all the memories won't stay back
And everyday I have to look at that tree
Carved with the names "Jack"
And me

The picnics at the park, our contest on the swings
Helping those kids with their lost dog
All of it was special all of it was true
All of it was magic—
Because all of it happened with you

If I had a time machine
I would want to go back
To the exact moment
I should have realized
We were through.

You guys know how English teachers have a tendency to ruin things? Like, they'll take something amazing—a book or an amazing poem or whathaveyou—and pick it apart and analyze it until it loses that certain spark that made you find it so amazing and awesome in the first place? I have to admit something: I did that with this. I don't know why, I just started thinking about the words and eventually I found myself picking it apart and analyzing it. Anyway, I just wanted to share that. Don't know why, I just felt like it. Anyway, I hope you liked it. And be sure to let me know what you think!

Peace out,
~Hisa-Ai~
