Orphans
They made their way through Rain's Snow District. And snow was the right word. The houses and people seemed to pile up on each other like a heavy snow. They rounded the corner and stood before the orphanage. It was a ghost of a place, its structure all but skeletal. Most windows hung on a single hinge if they hung at all. The door squeaked as Victoria pushed it open. The group followed Victoria through the halls of the building until they arrived at a single door enameled in gold at the end of a hall. It made no sense that such a door would exist in a horrible place like this was beyond the three foreigners. Victoria slowly opened the door to reveal a single child on a single cot. The child looked to be twelve or thirteen and his broodiness exuded his every motion. He slowly looked up from the bed looked over his visitors, then laid back on to the cot. But something caused him to shoot back up and he made direct contact with Xán. "You said you'd come back, but I didn't think you were serious!" The boy looked both happy and horrified. For a few moments know one moved afraid of what would happen next. The boy stood up and crossed the room, than hugged Xán and started to cry. Xán let the kid remain there until he was done.
"Kid I'm sorry but I'm not who you think I am." Xán let the words out slowly in an attempt to make him understand. The kid looked up at him and looked over every detail for several moments. "You're not him you don't have that scar on the back of your head." The kid angrily stomped back to his cot and flung himself down. "Still you look a lot like him," The kid spat venomously, "So what do you want?" Tension built in the room until finally, Tay finally spoke up.
"We are here to find the man who saved you." Tay began to explain. "We were hoping you could help us find out where he went." The boy barely moved as Tay asked for help. After a few moments of pure silence the boy pushed off the bed and walked over to a single dresser and opened it and pulled out a pair of gloves. Tay and Xylen took on looks of horror and dismay. Xán, Xán was enraged his magic incasing him in a cerulean aura.
"Where is my brother!" he yelled at the boy who stood unflinching as Xán grabbed him with a liquid hand. "What happened to him?" The boy didn't move at all except to dawn the gloves and then it was on. The liquid hand was severed in half as he summoned a shadow blade. The boy swung over and over again, but got nowhere as Xán effortlessly dodged every swing. Xán simple snapped his fingers, and the boy was ensnared in thousands of micro wires of liquids. "Where is my brother?" he asked again. The boy struggled for quite some time before he finally submitted.
"He headed east." The boy said his head hung in defeat.
"And the gloves why did he leave them?"
"He gave them to me. He said they would help me control my powers." The boy said.
"Xán look at him doesn't he look even a bit familiar?" Tay looked at Xán desperately. So he dropped the snare, and looked the boy over. The boy was of average height and weight. He had blue eyes that seemed shaped like a dragon's, and he had brown curly hair. Xán had no clue who he was instead it was Victoria who spoke up.
You're the Prime Ministers kid." She blurted out. "The one who always plays pranks on the city's population. What is someone like you doing down here?" The tension had decreased dramatically. Xán's aura had disappeared completely. The three now just as mystified as Victoria simply waited for his answer.
"I accidently wandered into the Snow district about a year ago. I was disgusted with the way these kids were living. Still they were good to me. They let me play with them and get to know them. When my dad found me later that day I asked him why the city didn't try to clean the Snow district up." The boy actually seemed like he might cry. "He told me that the orphans simple weren't worth it. I was so upset I told him that if he didn't try to clean this place up, than I wouldn't come home until he did. Ever since then I've lived down here." The boy-lord was upset a few tears falling from his face. "My dad disowned me and told me never to come home saying that he would never take me back in."
Xán and the others were appalled by what the young boy had told them. Victoria walked over to the boy and put her arms around him. She consoled the boy while the others went into the hall way. After about an hour or so Victoria came out of the room. She nodded at the others and they left to return to her home.
"So what did he say?" Stephan asked that night over dinner.
"Well he turned out to be the oldest of the Prime Minister's sons. You know the one who used to love to visit you." Tori laughed.
"Really and what was Jonathan doing down there?" Stephan asked
"He lives there." She said to Stephan's horror, "He was disowned because he asked his father to care about the orphans. But that's something we will talk about later for now the important part is that we found out where Roxas was headed."
"And where would that be?"
"To Black Shiva which is exactly where we thought he would go in the first place." Xán said. "And in the morning we leave to follow him.
"Black Shiva is a pretty dangerous place to travel. Are you sure that it's the right idea?" Stephan asked worried.
"No honestly we would face the whole world to get Roxas back. He's family and at the end of the day they are worth the fight." Xylen spoke up. The words lingered for the rest of the night.
They woke early the next morning and made their way to the gate where they entered. The brother and sister wished the group good luck and stood and watched them as they began to walk out of sight. As the disappeared into the hills Stephan turned to Tori and asked "How come you didn't tell them that Jonathan saw Rave with Roxas?"
"Because Stephan, at least this way they will be willing to give Rave the benefit of the doubt." She said this as a tear slid down her cheek. It was Rave who started the fire at the orphanage in an attempt to erase his past. She knew deep down the man she loved was gone, but she had to cling to hope.
