He saw me first and I turned around

Our eyes met and love was found

But fate is callous and illness is malice

Our time though short was full of bliss

Nothing more in life will I miss

Because now he's leaving and I'm here grieving

He's the one dying but I'm the one crying

When I know instead I should be trying

To put on a cheerful face

But my perseverance is misplaced

For that I know I am a disgrace

For him I should be an optimist

But instead I continue to vainly wish

And blame a god I'm not sure exists
