For a moment in time

Everything was obsolete

Except for the feeling

That occurs when our eyes meet

The universe goes away

And all lingering issues pass

For in the moment we exist

It's all that shall last

A choice had been made

From others once to you

And you hoped that one day

You'd be a first choice too

But alas, that's not right

As first choice would indicate

That there's someone else out there

I'd be interested to date

First choice isn't fair

For no selection was made

You were the only choice

Since my eyes met yours that day

For there is no other

Nor should there even be

You make my world better

Just by smiling at me

So know that your wish

Was met with a better ante

And I'm just very grateful

That chance made me lucky
