They danced around the alleys and whispered in the night.

They played games around the flames and remained out of sight.

They brought out the deepest fears, and made tremble the bravest men.

They were the world of old and only in their death

would the new world begin

...

The trees shed leaves from limbs

The skys dark and gusts horror

We stand looking on

The earth quakes in fear of it all

The shadows crawl up the walls

We stand looking on

The air is heavy but silent of sound

Only hearts that beat and quicken (thump and throb)

Our eyes strain on

We thought we could fight this

But now that we've reached this

We know its over and its time

Only to hold hands this time

So as the sky pushes down on us

And the trees give in

And the earth trembles

We will stand

There is no waking up from it

Our arms ache, our fingers sore

We hold on

Our shoulders are heavy

Our jaws tight bodies rigid

We hold on

Our shelter shakes above us

The air is full of breath in here

Fingers intertwined, we hold on

When ending grew near we thought

we could fight this but now

We know its over and its time

Only to hold hands this time

And as the sky pushes down on us

We don't give in

And as the earth trembles

We will stay firm, we will keep

Holding hands, holding on

To one small hope

That perhaps, with a slim chance

That maybe, as our fingers go numb

And our chests barely contain our hearts

That the sky might break

...

We came to them at dawn with gold in our hands

We whispered to them our dreams and talked of faraway lands

We brought them delight, and made smile the toughest men

We are the world of new and only in their death

would the new world begin
