It was early in my mind, late in my soul;
Being torn limb from limb and forced into the cold.
The last time I felt evades my capture,
And now all that's left is something I can't show.
"What's wrong?" You wanted to know.
All you saw was my back,
So you turned me around and I was,
Smiling, protecting my pain,
in a numb silence
The best place to hide something is where it can be seen
Neglect, solitude, opaque, like the lining when I stripped off the silver;
One has but to open the eye to see through my glassy frame.
Subjugated, belated the hands come to lift me but I chop them all off.
I have been chased, the target in place.
"What's wrong?" You wanted to know,
All you saw was my back,
So you turned me around and I was,
Smiling, protecting my pain,
in a numb silence
If they see, they won't say; ignorence is bliss
Bleeding, numb,
Though I see the red and feel the wet,
Taste the iron, know the cause,
I still can't feel life
"What's wrong?" You wanted to know,
All you saw was my back,
So you turned me around and I was
Smiling, protecting my pain
In a numb silence
Drifting, graying, fading, to nothing
"What's wrong?" You want to know,
All you see is my back,
If you turn me around I'll be
Smiling, showing you the chains,
In a numb silence
What's wrong, I asked you,
As you walked away,
Looking back you hurried on, I was
Smiling.
