Sing me a sweetheart love song
so I can hear your voice now I've done wrong
I shall take it with me in my heart
and pray for you when we are apart
Because I alone in my dark cell block
will dream of you in your white frock
That I know you bought for our wedding day
and I'll say the words I forgot to say
Darling you are my one and only
Darling without you I am lonely
Darling my heart beats just for you
Darling I love you through and through
And though it's one thousand tears I've cried
since I killed my springtime bride
Each and every night
I see her dressed in white
And I still believe she's here
Singing sweethearts in my ear
