Some other place – Jade Colt

Sometimes, I wish I were an eagle,

Imposing, strong and fast.

My stature and standing would be regal,

And always, my fame would last.

In this slumber, I dream of better times,

Of happiness, joy and smiles.

And being here and there at all times,

I would fly and fly, for miles and miles.

But then I wake up, and fall back to Earth,

And the hopes and wishes get lost in my heart.

Still I pretend to grin, and I give them mirth,

But I cannot help falling apart.

And all day I will yearn for the night,

Heart speeding and dropping and stopping.

And I yearn for the wind, yearn for the flight,

Because tonight is my happy ending.
