The pitter patter of rain awakes me from my slumber. The sun hides behind the clouds. I hope and pray for this stupid storm to be over. I hunger and wait for that radiant rainbow to break through the clouds and save me.

Chapter 1

"Sakura, get up and get ready for school!" I lay motionless for a few more minutes, until I hear another cry from my brother,

"Sakura if you're not ready by 7:30 I won't drive you!"

I scurried out of bed, brushed my teeth, got dressed, went down the stairs, grabbed my bread, and ran after my brother's car. I ran about a block before he stopped.

"Honestly", I said with bread still in my mouth "I know you're mad, but making me run down the block isn't going to solve anything."

"I know it just makes my feel better", he smiled.

Just to make things clear were not actually related. My dad died when I was five, and my mom was a total mess. I thought that she would be alone forever, but one day she came home with a strange man, whom I now call "Dad".

"So how are things going at school", said David

"The usual"

"The usual?"

"Yeah you know, popular kids being popular, nerdy kids being nerdy, sports people being sporty, weird people being weirdo's…"

"You know what I mean"

"My grades are… decent and my friends are cool"

"Decent?"

"You know I'm not the brightest light bulb in the pack"

"You're smart, just…lazy"

"You got that right" I smiled.

I waved my brother a goodbye to my brother and walked up the stairs of hell, I mean High School.

"Hey Sakura!" I heard my friend Richard call from behind.

I turned and smiled. Richard I and have been best friends since we were in pre-K, he's been with me through thick and thin, and he means a lot to me.

"Usually when your best friend says 'Hi' you stop and wait for them not just keep on walking!"

"Oh, really?"

"Yes", He smiled

First and second period were a blur, I kept on waiting for nutrition to come. When I saw Richard I felt a sense of calmness, but when nutrition ended my anxiety returned. It's hard to explain, I never felt this way before when I was with him. But lately my heart grows warm every time I near him. I threw my bag on the floor, and slid into my seat pondering as to if I could actually harbor feelings towards my best friend. I mean I never thought of him that way before, but lately I've been wondering if one day we would ever become more than friends. Class had started, I particularly don't like my math teacher, okay I hate him, but anyone would hate him. He gives us homework on things we haven't learned, he yells at us for not knowing the right answer, he even picks on innocent teenagers outside the class! Even so, I always catch him giving me dirty looks. Then that dreaded, moment came when the bell rang for fourth I packed by bags and was heading over to my next class when Mr. Johnson, my math Teacher, pulled me aside.

"Sakura, I'm afraid you won't be going to your next class"

"Why?" I proclaimed, an evil grin spread across his face and my heart sank. The next thing I knew I felt a sharp pain in my arm, and then darkness was enclosed all around me. I knew I would not see Richard again. I tried my best to fight, but with every struggle the more pain I felt. I finally gave up.
