"Come on, we're almost there," Sam said. I was so curious about where we were going. He said it was a surprise and made me wear a blindfold starting when we got in the car.

"And then can I take my blindfold off?" I asked, smiling.

"Of course."

Sam guided me across what felt like wet grass tickling my feet through my sandals. I could hear the calming ocean waves. I could smell the salt in the air. We were definitely at a beach.

We stopped. "Are we here?" I asked.

"Hold on," Sam said, and he lifted me up in one arm. I threw my arms around his neck so I wouldn't fall.

"What are you doing?" I wondered.

"There's a lot of loose rocks here, I don't want you to trip," he said.

It felt like we were traveling downhill, getting closer to the ocean. Then Sam put me down and sand poured over my feet. It was still warm from the daytime. Sam reached around my head and untied my blindfold, revealing the starry night sky and dark sapphire blue water, along with pearly white sand.

Sam leaned in and gave me a light kiss, then resting his forehead against mine he whispered, "I love you."
