"The Grumpy Snail"

Series: An Element of Writer's Block

The grumpy snail crawls along

He whistles the tone of a familiar song

A speeding bug passes by

This is the slow lane, why must he fly?

A slug slithers down, how very rude

Why would he go out in the nude?

Atop a branch sits the food

Before he can get there, it is gone

Poor snail, he's been crawling before dawn

Anger now fills his heart

None of the other bugs are very smart

Snail is slow and graceful, full of respect

But he could not get that, from any other insect

So he finishes his crawl, grumpy as can be

In the morning he packs his bags, and heads to the sea
