The Safety of Light
By: Claire Kelly (Chibivampiresakura on DeviantART)
You're safe in the light,
Never walking in darkness,
Is it truly alright,
Or is it all an illusion?
Sun shining bright,
Not a cloud in the sky,
All seems fine, happy and safe.
Your time begins to slow,
You forget the danger of all,
Carelessness ensues,
And the shadow start calling.
Everywhere,
Always watching,
Waiting for the time to strike.
Walking home,
Just on the sidewalk,
You step in the narrow shadows,
And become locked in place,
You're trapped.
It comes along,
You never saw it,
It was always there,
Waiting for this moment.
The comfort fake,
The safety an illusion,
It's all simply a show,
Nothing is real.
A dark silhouette,
It blocks your freedom,
You've lost your chance,
Your days are destroyed and nothing is left.
You're cornered, you're scared,
Your adrenaline is rushing,
You see light reflect,
On a blade of silver.
Words of comfort,
Words of love,
Are being said gently in your ear,
"This was meant to be,
My unknown lover,"
Be it past,
Present or future,
There is no meaning,
For you will not be remembered,
You did nothing good.
Life can be stopped,
Ever so easily,
You were the victim,
Of a killer, a menace,
Or was it an unknown lover?
Be it the darkness inside us all or a lost soul,
They wanted your light,
So they took you life.
