Today, this day
Today we did the unthinkable,
She told me she loved me
I told her I cared
I gently caressed her beautiful face in the palm of my hand.
I lied, it was easy,
and to this day she swears she loves me.
I never cared.
I have no remorse
I lied, and I'm the cause for her tears.
As she cried, I looked back and whispered goodbye, and never again, would anything be said.
Still her soft sobs haunt me, I lie awake each night and day, desperately seeking consolation, knowing there is none to be found,
I lie awake some nights, softly mimicking her hopeless cries,
